Position Overview

Charleston Southern University is seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time position at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor of Communication. The ideal applicant will hold a Master's or Doctoral degree in a communication-related field such as public relations, journalism, strategic communication, or communication studies. Professional experience in public relations or journalism is preferred, and additional expertise in organizational communication is also welcome.


Key Responsibilities

The typical teaching load is 24 credit hours per academic year (12 hours each major semester) of undergraduate Communication courses in a variety of formats—in-person, blended, or on-line. Additional duties will include undergraduate advising and other support of instructional activities as well service on university committees as assigned. 

Qualifications

M.A. or Ph.D. in a communication-related field (e.g. public relations, journalism, strategic communication, or communication studies). Professional experience in public relations or journalism is preferred but candidates with additional expertise in areas such as organizational communication are also encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will provide evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarly activity.
