Position Overview

The Department of Psychology at Charleston Southern University invites applications for an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Psychology position beginning 1 January 2026. Charleston Southern University seeks candidates for faculty positions who are professing Christians and who are committed to excellence in teaching and service. They should support the goals of a strong liberal arts education and be willing to explore with students the integration of faith and learning. 


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have the ability to teach the following courses: General Psychology, and relevant combinations of: Introduction to Statistics, Research Methods, Cognitive Psychology, and Forensic Psychology, and others as developed. Involvement within the department, student advising, campus service and professional development are required. The course load is 12 hours per major semester of undergraduate courses.  Teaching in the summer is available for additional pay; courses are taught both in person and online. The successful candidate will be committed to integrating the Christian faith into his or her teaching and scholarly activities and advancing the Christian mission of the University. 

Qualifications

Earned Ph.D. in Psychology is preferred but A.B.D. status or an M.S. from an accredited institution will be considered. The successful applicant will provide evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarly activity.
