The Summer Camp Aquatics Director will oversee the daily operations and activities of the pool facility for the 2024 camp season. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • work with a team of lifeguards/swim instructors to ensure safety of all swimmers at all times
  • supervise all lifeguards and campers on the pool deck
  • set lifeguard/swim instructor schedules and assigns lifeguards to specific groups
  • develop a swim progression program of lessons for swimmers ages 3 to 13 at varying levels of development
  • maintain the safety and cleanliness of the pool facility
  • support lifeguards/swim instructors with lesson planning and evaluations
  • setting up and resetting the pool facility for camp each day and ensuring that the pool facility is ready for evening swim activities
  • assesses a swimmer’s progress one time per session using the American Red Cross guidelines for swim instruction and progression
  • communicates with camp directors regularly
  • communicates with camp counselors
  • communicates with parents, if needed

Required to attend in-person training sessions or mandatory meetings on:

  • 5/28 from 5:30pm to 9:30pm (Staff Orientation)
  • 5/29 from 5:30pm to 9:30pm (Staff Orientation)
  • 5/31 from 5:30pm to 7:45pm (Parent Orientation - Session 1)
  • 6/17 from 5:30pm to 7pm (Parent Orientation - Session 2 and Session 3)

Qualifications

  • must be 16 years old or older

  • previous camp experience preferred

  • must be available all nine weeks of camp (June 3 to August 2, 2024)

  • possess leadership skills and responsible decision making

  • act as a positive role model to campers and counselors while representing Saint Andrew's School

  • First Aid, CPR and AED certified - training will be provided by Saint Andrew’s School prior to camp
