POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the YMCA of the Rockies, Snow Mountain Ranch, which operates a mission-based family and group conference and retreat center and overnight summer camp, serving more than 50,000 guests annually. The Housekeeping Operations Manager is primarily responsible for the safe and efficient laundering and transportation of linens and management of inventory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Daily Operations & Leadership

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the daily operations of the housekeeping department to ensure efficiency and quality service by:

    • Organizing cleaning priorities and staff assignments based on occupancy, check-ins, and turnover needs.
    • Maintaining team morale, particularly on high-stress or high-occupancy days.
    • Monitoring and ensuring cleaning times are met for rooms, lodges, and common areas.
    • Stepping in as needed to assist on the floor and ensure smooth operations during peak periods.
    • Making real-time operational decisions to adapt to last-minute occupancy changes, guest needs, or staffing shortages.
    • Communicating daily expectations, updates, and adjustments to the housekeeping team.
  • Lead and motivate teams of seasonal staff members, ensuring accountability to housekeeping standards and guidelines.
  • Foster a positive and productive team environment, encouraging teamwork, adaptability, and problem-solving.
  • Resolve conflicts and mediate issues within the team to maintain a strong, high-functioning workforce.
  • Ensure all guest accommodations and public areas meet high standards of cleanliness, comfort, and presentation.
  • Respond to guest concerns related to housekeeping in a timely and professional manner, ensuring satisfaction

Quality Control & Safety:

  • Enforce housekeeping quality control standards and provide direct coaching to staff to uphold expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Logistics Manager, who will inspect and track quality control results.
  • Follow up on quality control issues and trends, reporting them to the Housekeeping Director.
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and safety of all machinery, chemicals, and vehicles.

Cross-Department Collaboration:

  • Coordinate with Front Desk and Guest Services to manage special cleaning requests, early check-ins, and VIP arrivals.
  • Work closely with the Facilities/Maintenance team to report and track room damage or maintenance needs.
  • Partner with other department leaders to ensure seamless operations and alignment with broader organizational goals.

Staff Development & Coordination:

  • Train incoming supervisors and seasonal staff, following department guidelines.
  • Set performance standards and evaluate the performance of Housekeeping Leaders.
  • Foster ongoing learning and growth opportunities for team members.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist with Housekeeping Director responsibilities as needed.
  • Gain a basic understanding of other director-level positions within the department to provide coverage when necessary.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a valid, USA state-issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.
  • Basic understanding and ability to use computer software.
  • Must possess physical strength to lift up to 30lbs repeatedly throughout the workday.
  • Willingness to step into cleaning, laundry, or transportation roles as needed.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel repeatedly throughout the workday
  • Must possess physical stamina to work in warm/hot environment throughout the workday
  • Must be able to work effectively in a noisy and fast-paced environment
  • Must possess the physical stamina to walk and stand for extended periods of time throughout the workday
  • Must be able to work and drive in all weather conditions.
