Konami Gaming is looking for a Mathematician II to join our team!
The Mathematician is responsible for creating mathematical models for multiple games on a project basis and researching and analyzing games from a statistical perspective. This position also requires flexibility to always act autonomously while adhering to overall department and company policies and procedures.
What you'll be doing:
- Create a math model and resource materials for at least a standard or simple game within a reasonable time frame, utilizing Microsoft Excel, Visual Studio (C#), and Windows based PCs.
- Create the Math Documentation and provide relevant math data for specific math models autonomously.
- Create a working version of the math model using Konami’s proprietary C# Math Tool for limited types of games.
- Create Excel sheets (PARs) which incorporate theoretical calculations proving out math models for regulatory approval and customer-facing information.
- Proactively looking for problem points and can resolve with some guidance or advice.
- Can explain math design parameters in a way that people with minimal to no math knowledge can easily understand them.
- Ability to work with other departments to explain mathematical data.
- Works with Software Engineer to ensure accuracy of software and math model via Monte Carlo simulations and prize forces.
- Analyze and calculate statistics for existing or new games and report findings to support Math and Producer team needs.
- Assist 3rd party Math Design, as needed.
- Autonomously research gaming trends and new products through visiting casino floors, reviewing gaming journals, reading press releases, visiting gaming shows and field research trips.
- Understand the minimum requirements for a math model to be approved in all required jurisdictions and ensure each math model meets regulations both internal as well as industry.
- Understands Games R&D's fundamental math direction and can create a math model following the general direction as well as satisfy all given game specific directions with some guidance.
- Minimal number of errors on mathematical documents reported from SQA or regulator. This includes grammar, formatting and mathematical.
- Can complete a simple task (e.g. statistical analysis, listing games having a potential issue with a new regulation, etc.) within a reasonable time frame.
- Ability to perform requested tasks with supervision.
- Can handle creating multiple math models or other tasks by prioritizing daily tasks with last-minute tasks to ensure all meet required deadlines.
- Can effectively foresee possible deadline issues and communicate in a timely manner to allow for adjusting.
- Can communicate to other Games R&D groups in functional job area.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
