Position Title: Senior Inspector

Reports To: Assistant Vice President
Company: CES Consultants, Inc. (CES)
Location: New York, NY and surrounding areas – 75% travel to project site.

Job Type: Full-Time

 

Position Overview

The Senior Inspector will be responsible for providing construction inspection services on a NYC Department of Design and Construction Water Main/Sewer project.  

Responsibilities:

  • On-site inspection of construction activities including water main and sewer work.
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents and NYC DDC specifications.
  • Monitor contractor’s work for quality and schedule adherence.
  • Prepare daily inspection reports, photos, and field documentation.
  • Coordinate with Resident Engineer, City officials, and the public as necessary.
  • Perform material sampling and required testing.
  • Perform additional related duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A baccalaureate degree in engineering from an accredited college AND a minimum of five years of experience in construction inspection of NYCDDC water main and sewer projects. OR
  • Valid NICET level II certification in Highway Construction AND eight years of experience in construction inspection of NYCDDC water main and sewer projects.
  • Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.

Technical Skills:

  • MS Office
  • Adobe Acrobat

Preferred Certifications

  • OSHA Safety and Health, 10-hour
  • NYCDDC Water Main Inspection Training
  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician, Grade I

Soft Skills:

  • Detailed oriented and reliable, while demonstrating a high-level of interpersonal, diplomacy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple team members.
