Position Summary:  As a Pharmacy Clerk, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing outstanding customer service, both in person and over the phone. You will support pharmacy operations through accurate data entry, effective cash handling, point of sale transactions, and inventory management enduring a smooth and welcoming experience for every patient. 

Essential Functions:  

  1. Managing the Point of Sales system, daily sales transactions, and end of day transaction reconciliation.
  2. Entering patient demographics and allergy information into the system, including insurance information for billing.
  3. Resolving patient-related issues with pharmacists regarding prescription drugs. Advises pharmacists as to which patients are waiting. Process messages from the pharmacy IVR and electronic health record patient portal. Educate patients how to use the pharmacy refill line and other pharmacy workflow processes to assist patient access with their refill medications.
  4. Organizing the processed prescriptions in the will call area ready for pickup.
  5. Processing the return to stock prescriptions for the pharmacy technicians for inventory restock.
  6. Assisting the Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacist in other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

      •  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience

      •  College work is desirable

  1. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  2. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  3. Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner with patients and coworkers.                              
  4. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  5. Knowledge of Customer Service standards and procedures. 
  6. Bilingual: English and Spanish a plus
