Essential Functions

- Coordinates training and education of Care Partners and Medication Aides on an ongoing basis.
- Assists with schedules to ensure proper coverage to meet resident needs according to budget.
- Shares on call duties as required.
- Monitors Medication Aides in administration of medication, to include documentation audits.
- Assists the Health Service Director and/or Health Services Coordinator in medication management, including administration of medications to residents, ordering medication from pharmacy and maintaining records as dictated in Bethesda Senior Living Communities policies.
- Ensures that medications are properly stored, medication carts/cupboards are cleaned and medication room is organized according to standards.
- Observes resident health status, takes actions to address concerns within scope of practice, and reports all significant changes in condition.
- Ensures that all required documentation, including service plans and nursing assessments, is completed.
- Communicates to families as needed, regarding resident's personal needs and scheduled physician, dental, or eye appointments.
- Assists in organizing and developing service plan reviews as required, with appropriate resident care team members and resident families.
- Performs monthly safety and infection control checks of the community and reports back to the Health Service Director and/or Health Services Coordinator.
- Works with HSD/HSC to coordinate monthly staff schedules, arranges replacement staffing when necessary and maintains clear records of all changes, requests and irregularities.
- Ensures in-house ancillary medical services such as podiatrist, doctor visits, psych visits, labs, x-ray, ambulance, etc. are scheduled and followed through.
- Participates in the maintenance of resident records including review of documentation performed by Care Partners and Medication Aides, monthly MAR reviews, setting up new resident and thinning records appropriately.
- Ensures adequate daily coverage for meal service by communicating with the Culinary Services Director and/or Host/Hostess, to include taking resident orders for meals, providing drink refills according to residents’ / guests’ requests, assists with the cleaning, resetting and preparation of the dining room in-between mealtimes.
