The Floral Merchandiser oversees the operations of all in-store floral departments within a designated region. This role is responsible for implementing company standards related to product quality, merchandising, pricing, seasonal strategies, sanitation, and customer service. The Floral Merchandiser works closely with department managers to ensure a high standard of presentation, drives sales through innovative merchandising and promotions, and supports hiring, training, and development initiatives. This position also collaborates with vendors, maintains inventory control, and supports budgeting efforts. Consistent communication with the Director of Produce / Floral is essential to align strategies and ensure departmental success.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Experience & Store Leadership
- Model and promote exceptional customer service across all floral departments.
- Provide leadership and guidance to store-level floral managers to ensure alignment with company goals and customer satisfaction standards.
- Operational Oversight
- Direct and support floral departments in execution of product selection, pricing, merchandising, inventory management, and sanitation practices.
- Merchandising & Promotions
- Develop and implement regionally tailored merchandising strategies and marketing plans.
- Coordinate seasonal displays, advertised specials, and in-store promotions to drive sales and enhance the shopping experience.
- Vendor & Product Management
- Collaborate with vendors to maintain product quality, seasonal item availability, and the introduction of new floral offerings.
- Ensure vendor compliance with company quality specifications.
- Sales & Performance Monitoring
- Analyze weekly sales performance and product mix, recommending changes to improve results.
- Support inventory reviews and shrink reduction strategies by store.
- Budgeting & Planning
- Assist in developing departmental budgets, including labor, supply costs, and capital expenditures.
- Participate in forecasting tools and reporting to monitor gross margin, shrink, and promotional performance.
- Hiring & Training
- Recruit and evaluate candidates for floral leadership positions.
- Facilitate training programs and seminars for floral managers and team members to promote safety, product knowledge, everyday operation of departments and customer service excellence.
- Store Design & Resets
- Assist with design and layout planning for new and remodeled floral departments.
- Support the development and execution of category schematics and regional reset initiatives.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain consistent communication with the Director of Produce / Floral regarding department goals, issues, and performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall departmental success.
