Position Summary

Leads, facilitates, and oversees the work activities of team leaders, technicians and production employees.  Supports the operational leadership team in the safe execution of daily activities, meeting production targets, organizing labor and coaching employees. Assists in creating and promoting a positive and cohesive team environment, always leading as a positive example in terms of attendance, flexibility, and strong work commitment.  This is a “leadership” role requiring the employee to spend a minimum of 75% of their hours on the shop floor.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide manufacturing leadership to fully engage employees and foster a productive work environment.
  • Creates a strong safety culture believing that all injuries are preventable while investigating any incident, near miss or injury.
  • Oversees the efficient utilization of materials, supplies, and labor to meet all manufacturing requirements and production schedules.
  • Measures shift Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for safety, quality, attendance, productivity and training.
  • Work cooperatively with production and maintenance teams to identify and resolve production issues in an efficient manner and assist in the resolution of quality / production problems. Identify and eliminate root causes of problems and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
  • Creates and improves Standard Work Instructions for production, setup and operator-based maintenance.
  • Participates in document creation of Lockout/Tagout, Job Hazard Analysis, Control Plans and Production Standards
  • Owns the training plan and execution of all assigned employees in all operational areas: Machine Operation, Set-Up, Safety, Quality, Preventative Maintenance, etc.
  • Enters production or inventory transaction reports, while reviewing information for accuracy
  • Provides technical expertise and coaching to department employees to resolve issues, overcome obstacles, and improve performance.
  • Maintains clean and safe work areas by actively enforcing 5S programs for all areas and employees to whom they are assigned.
  • Administers all policy and safety guidelines within assigned departments.
  • Plan and manage shift meeting to communicate information to oncoming team leaders and supervisors daily
  • Willing to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Computer Proficiency (MS Office Suite)
  • Excellent communication skills -- verbal and written.
  • 3 or more years of experience in production supervision or a related role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, quality control, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership abilities with experience managing teams effectively.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to hire, train, develop, and manage employees.
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Conflict management skills

 

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS in manufacturing, engineering business or operations management preferred or at least 5 years of hands-on production supervision experience required in lieu of degree
  • Proficient use of MRP software (Acumatica preferred), spreadsheets, basic accounting, and data entry

 

Work Environment

  • Inside average plant environment
  • Average office plant noise levels occasionally exceeding 85dB
  • Personal protective equipment required while on the production floor

  • Based on Full Time Employment
  • Base pay: Competitive - DOE
