Overview
Bayberry Inc. provides supported living services to clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are responsible to provide guidance, instruction, and support to clients in their own homes. All responsibilities outlined herein are considered Essential Functions unless waived for an individual client. DSP responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Client Support Responsibilities:
- Direct Support Professionals are responsible to provide guidance, instruction, and support to clients in their own homes. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Provide guidance, support and instruction to clients in their own homes and in the community.
• Assist with medications.
• Assist with daily routines, household chores, shopping/meal preparation, and personal care.
• Assist with transportation to appointments to include, medical, dental, counseling, planning team meetings, etc.
• Assist with scheduling social and recreational outings.
• Promote and maintain a positive and supportive environment.
Support Team Responsibilities:
• Participate in planning team process if requested by sharing essential information to inform planning team decisions.
• Inform Bayberry SLS Coordinator (supervisor) of any information that needs to be passed on to outside agencies.
Bayberry Employee Responsibilities:
• Maintain professional communication and working relationships with the people supported in Bayberry Inc. SLS, their families, all Bayberry staff.
• Attend required Bayberry Inc. meetings.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Be able to handle crisis situations effectively, and according to protocol.
• Be able to work independently.
• Be able to follow-up on directives from supervisor.
• Be dependable, arriving to work on time.
• Be able to read, write, and comprehend English.
• Be able to perform the tasks as indicated by the client’s ISP and IPP
