Wilson College invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Curriculum (COC) within the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP) program. This faculty appointment offers the opportunity to play a vital role in advancing the mission and philosophy of the program while contributing to its growth and excellence.

The Coordinator of Curriculum provides leadership in the planning, development, and continuous improvement of the academic curriculum, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and integration of academic content with clinical application. Working collaboratively with both academic and clinical faculty, the COC fosters innovation in teaching and promotes student success through evidence-based, inclusive practices.

This role also serves as a key liaison between the MS-SLP Program and academic faculty, supporting strong communication, faculty engagement, and curricular excellence. The COC is instrumental in maintaining a rigorous, relevant, and responsive curriculum that reflects current evidence and best practices in the field.

Administrative Responsibilities

Curriculum & Program Development

  • Develop, monitor, refine, and assess the curriculum across the program (i.e., courses, alignment with CAA standards, and connecting academic content to clinical application).
  • Develop program-specific curriculum, policies, and procedures for implementation that align with college-wide standards, ensuring ongoing review and revision in accordance with institutional and administrative guidelines and accreditation standards.
  • Actively engage core faculty in academic education planning, implementation, and assessment (academic courses and alignment with on-campus residences).
  • Develop, collect, and analyze outcome data from the academic experience of the students to create reports to share with the Program Director, Director of Clinical Education, Program Coordinators, and Faculty.
  • Review outcomes of the comprehensive examination, Praxis scores, student and faculty evaluations, and remediations to identify gaps and areas of improvement in the curriculum.
  • Lead and oversee the continual review and analysis of the curriculum, outcome data and current evidence-based practices to inform curriculum revisions and updates.
  • Assist in developing the program budget related to academic needs within the curriculum.
  • Maintain and update criteria for course objectives, utilizing feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with DCE to create opportunities for alignment of clinical hours during on-campus residency experiences using EBP from the curriculum.
  • Assist in developing opportunities for development of skills checklists to support clinical hours of on-campus residency experiences and clinical practicum courses (e.g., Telepractice Practicum).
  • Develop the program’s academic manual in collaboration with the Program Director and the Director of Clinical Education,
  • Continuously revise the program’s academic manual. Provide updates to faculty and students as needed.
  • Attend, actively participate, and contribute to leadership meetings, faculty meetings, and programmatic workgroups.
  • Ensure that curriculum review is an ongoing process, culminating in an Annual Curriculum Review as part of the Annual Self-Study.

Curriculum Development Management

  • Lead the Discussions regarding course objectives and alignment with CAA standards.
  • Oversee the selection, evaluation, and development of course objectives and continuously monitor faculty implementation and administration of courses.
  • Track students’ academic courses to ensure compliance with accreditation and educational standards.
  • Provide documented records and assessment of the educational component, including clinical curriculum and faculty teaching effectiveness.
  • Administer and document the program's curriculum component, ensuring compliance with accreditation and educational standards.
  • Manage the course assignments based on curriculum needs and expertise of faculty.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations is reflected in the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Education to ensure alignment and mapping of academic and clinical course learning outcomes and objectives with on-campus residency activities.
  • Prepare accreditation documentation in collaboration with the Program Director and other program administrators and faculty.
  • Coordinate and assist with agenda formation for the Annual Curriculum Review, including:
    • Annual review of the curriculum
    • Review of Program mission, goals, and objectives
    • Summative results of Student Evaluation of the Curriculum
    • Summative review of adjunct, supportive, and guest faculty evaluations
    • Faculty input regarding curricular issues

Academic Education of Students

  • Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Education in the development and execution of the on-campus residency content to ensure the integration of academic and clinical learning that meets educational, programmatic, and professional objectives and standards.
  • Oversee the SLP academic delivery of high-quality academic courses that are interactive (i.e., online teaching) and address the mid-higher level Blooms taxonomy.
  • Facilitate quality learning experiences for students during online academic education experiences across the program (i.e., courses).
  • Assign Course Coordinators and monitor alignment between course sections.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Education on designing and implementing interprofessional learning experiences across academic and clinical courses and on-campus residency experiences.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Education to implement timelines and processes to support the delivery of the on-campus residencies (i.e., faculty assignments, development/updates to teaching guides, content, and materials, etc.).
  • Evaluate students' performance in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Education and in cooperation with other faculty, to determine their ability to integrate didactic and clinical learning experiences and to progress within the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Education and faculty on designing formative and summative learning experiences for students during on-campus residencies.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Education and faculty in the creation of remediations/intervention plans for clinical experiences as needed.
  • Educate students, clinical, and academic faculty about andragogy (adult education).
  • Mentor and advise future clinicians.
  • Direct communication with students regarding academic experiences across the program (i.e., courses, seminars, and other educational collaborations).
  • Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Education and faculty in developing scoring rubrics for residency activities to monitor and track student acquisition of skills and competencies (i.e., skills checklists and student performance rating scales).

MS-SLP Program Support

  • Collaborate with the Program Director to monitor the performance of students and academic faculty teaching
  • Chair the Curriculum Committee, which includes overseeing the academic curriculum and collaborating with the Director of Clinical Education in overseeing the residency curriculum.
  • Serve as a member of the MS-SLP Program Strategic Planning Steering Committee.
  • Lead a strategic planning subcommittee dedicated to a specific focus area.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Clinical Education to ensure alignment of academic and clinical content objectives across the curriculum and clinical experiences.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Education to plan the synchronous session schedule.
  • Communicate with all stakeholders to maintain current knowledge of the program, courses, and changes in healthcare affecting education.
  • Coordinate communication to manage and disseminate critical information, including program philosophy, curriculum details, policies, and procedures, to program faculty, clinical educators, and students.
  • Engage in regional, state, and national events related to academic education.
  • Mentor and support future clinicians and faculty in clinical and educational roles.
  • Promote and provide development opportunities for faculty.
  • Mentor students annually on research or scholarly program-related projects. The number of students mentored is determined by program support and needs.
  • Participate in at least one interdisciplinary learning initiative each academic year.
  • Demonstrate ongoing professional engagement by maintaining membership in at least one relevant professional organization each academic year.
  • Participate annually in scholarly activities such as publications, conference presentations, and service on peer-review or research committees.

Qualifications:

  1. Candidates should have a PhD or EdD in CSD or field related to curriculum and education.
  2. Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Pennsylvania and other states, as required to meet program needs.
  3. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).
  4. A minimum of two years of full-time experience as an academic faculty member in a CAA-accredited MS-SLP program.
  5. Compliant with ASHA and state-specific licensure requirements (based on student location) for supervision of graduate SLP students.
  6. Applicable experience in curriculum development (SLP program leadership experience and/or demonstrated successful leadership experience with the CAA accreditation process are preferred).
  7. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to mentor colleagues in hybrid teaching and learning.
  8. Experience with Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Research, Science of Learning, and curriculum mapping.
  9. Understanding of higher education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in speech-language pathology education.
  10. Proven scholarship, service, and committee activities.
  11. Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting academic education, students, and the profession of Speech-Language Pathology.
  12. Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.
  13. Experience conducting online teaching and clinical simulations is preferred.

Teaching and Education Responsibilities

  • The Coordinator of Curriculum (COC) is classified as an Administrator with Faculty Privileges per the Wilson College Faculty Bylaws (July 2024). The COC will primarily and administratively manage the academic curriculum and experiences across the program. In addition to administrative responsibilities, the COC workload includes teaching, student mentoring, scholarship, and service as agreed upon with the Program Director. The workload distribution is as follows and subject to change based on program needs:
    • Administration: 40%
    • Teaching: 40%
    • Student Mentoring: 10%
    • Scholarship/Research Mentoring: 5%
    • Service: 5%

Scholarship Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and disseminate research/scholarship activities following accreditation requirements and institutional policies and procedures.

Service Responsibilities:

  • Participate in institutional and professional service opportunities following accreditation requirements and institutional policies and procedures.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • Full time, 12 months
  • Remote/Hybrid
  • Periodic travel to the Philadelphia metro area for intensive on-campus residency experiences and Chambersburg, PA for College functions.
  • Position is contingent on completion of background check.
