Position Overview

This is a regular student labor position which serves as Graduate Assistant for the Athletics Operations administration team and provides support for all aspects of daily operations, facilities, and scheduling to ensure a top tier gameday experience. This position reports to the Sr. Associate Athletic Director of Academic and Support Services. Applicant should be a highly motivated self-starter, eager to learn, with strong engagement, organizational, and communication skills. This position requires clerical work, including but not limited to data entry, research, organization, and computer proficiency. This position may require moving equipment, working outside on grounds, and/or helping with preventative maintenance and may require heavy, physical and manual labor.

 

Hours per Week

  • 20-25 hours per week.
  • Working nights, weekends, school breaks, and holidays is a possible function of this position.

 

College/Department Overview

The Athletics Department at the University of Central Oklahoma currently supports over 400 student-athletes in 15 NCAA Division II sports including: Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Women’s Cross Country, Football, Men’s and Women’s Golf, Women’s Rowing, Women’s Soccer, Softball, Women’s Track & Field (Indoor & Outdoor), Women’s Volleyball and Men’s Wrestling.

 

Department Specific Job Functions

  • Help oversee all athletic facilities on a day-to-day basis pertaining to operations and maintenance.
  • Help coordinate and oversee game day operations for 15 NCAA sports.
  • Conducts athletic facility walk through and evaluation on regular basis for maintenance, safety and upkeep.
  • Work closely with campus partners to ensure venues are prepared for games, rentals and other events.
  • Coordinate scheduling for all athletic facilities.
  • Primary event manager for outside entities using athletic facilities.
  • Assist with in-game event management.
  • Provides administrative and clerical support to the athletic department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned and works as a cooperative/supportive team member in the UCO Athletic Department. 

 

Enrollment Requirements

Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.

Summer Semester: Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes in order to work during the summer, but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.

Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. Qualifications/Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree and admittance into a master’s program at UCO.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Strong organizational & communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license is required for vehicle and/or golf cart use.
