General Schedule:

Position typically works Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm in-office at UCO's main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Hourly range of $21.15-$21.63 per hour is equivalent to $44,000-$45,000 per year.

Position Overview:

Entry level professional position, with actions that may have a measurable impact on operations. Performs a variety of duties following established policies and procedures. Resolves problems by selecting from approved alternatives based on past practices, established procedures, or direction. May provide input into budget development. Primarily responsible for executing routine procedures with direction from senior staff. Generally reports to manager or higher. May not supervise others. Works with students.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs a range of communications and/or marketing related work which may include print, social media, web content, or multi-media.
  • Creates and disseminates content for internal/external audiences through a variety of media. Final products may be subject to approval by a higher-level professional.
  • Coordinates and implements communication activities.
  • Assists and implements all marketing strategies by preparing proposal, presentation, and communication materials.
  • Coordinates the distribution of internal and external marketing literature. 
  • Assists in writing and editing sales and marketing materials, which include articles, presentations, white papers, and collateral. 
  • Assists in promotional strategies and product development. Distributes communications, such as press releases, according to the communications calendar.
  • Updates and manages company websites and social media accounts. Collaborates to develop organizational branding and ensures all. communications are consistent with company branding, marketing and communication objectives.

Content Creation and Management:

  • Develop marketing collateral including brochures, presentations, social media posts, and website content.
  • Manage the content calendar and ensure timely publication across various channels.
  • Oversee content creation projects or work with designers and writers.

Social Media Management:

  • Manage the School's social media accounts and create engaging content.
  • Track and analyze social media engagement metrics.
  • Respond to comments and messages from followers.

Outreach:

  • Develop and maintain an outreach calendar for each academic year.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of outreach activities for the school such as visits to area K-12 schools or other events and venues.
  • Work with student club leadership on their participation in outreach activities.

Brand Management:

  • Assist with developing and promoting a consistent brand message that integrates with broader university branding.
  • Ensure all marketing materials comply with brand guidelines.

Event Planning and Promotion:

  • Assist with planning, promoting, and marketing School events.

Communications and Reporting:

  • Draft press releases and other communication materials.
  • Monitor industry trends and prepare reports for marketing leadership

Qualifications/Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in job related field plus 6+ years of work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication: This is essential for crafting clear, concise, and engaging messages across various channels.
  • Active listening: Ability to understand the needs of the audience and tailor communication accordingly.

Marketing Knowledge:

  • Marketing fundamentals: Understanding of core marketing concepts like target audience, brand positioning, and marketing channels.
  • Content marketing:  Ability to create and manage engaging content (written, visual, etc.) that resonates with the target audience.
  • Market research: Ability to conduct basic market research to understand trends, competitor analysis, and customer insights.

Technical Skills:

  • Marketing tools: Proficiency in marketing automation tools, email marketing platforms, and content management systems (CMS).
  • Social media marketing:  Understanding of social media platforms, content creation strategies, and community management.
  • Basic graphic design: Familiarity with design software like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Organization and time management: Juggling multiple projects and meeting deadlines is crucial.
  • Project management: Ability to plan, execute, and track marketing and communication campaigns.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with team members from different departments (design, sales, etc.)
  • Problem-solving:  Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues that arise during campaigns.
