General Schedule:
Position typically works Monday-Friday from 6am to 3pm.
Hourly rate of $15 per hour is equivalent to $31,200 per year.

Position Overview & Job Duties:

Assists with distribution of recycling containers and the removal of recycled materials from campus. Transports and empties recycling materials at Recycling Center. Assiss with office moves.  Delivers campus event supplies such as tables, chairs, and trash cans.  Assists with the setup and tear down of large-scale campus events such as Graduation, awards ceremonies, etc.  Performs duties aligned with needs of special events, before, during, and after the events. Analyzes supplies and materials and reports malfunctions or deficiencies. Observes, communicates, complies with and enforces Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) provisions.

Available to help with a facilities emergency.  Assists with snow and ice removal. This may necessitate the use of a cell phone for after-hours callbacks. Further, a pre-arranged shift change may be implemented for predictable emergencies like inclement weather. Standard shift is Monday to Friday 6am to 3pm.

Qualifications Required:

General education or vocational training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and be able to operate a typical motor vehicle.

Must pass pre-employment physical.

Qualifications Preferred:

One or more years related experience in recycling collection and/or event setup.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Sufficient dexterity and coordination to operate equipment common to the trade, especially trucks, forklift, and industrial tractors. Reads, understands manuals and instructions printed in English and documents legibly in same. Good oral and written communications are needed to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position.

This position requires a physical. The physical requirements are:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and 75 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry 200 feet.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry up/down 30 stairs.
  • Ability to walk regularly for long periods of time across the campus.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to use and reach with hands and arms regularly.
  • Ability to climb in high places using a ladder or balance frequently.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend and crawl occasionally.
  • Ability to push or pull dolly loaded with up to 120 pounds for 300 feet occasionally.
  • Must have close, distance, and peripheral vision.
  • Depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Pass PFT (pulmonary function test)
