Kids' Place Counselor

Greetings all new and returning San Antonio Academy Counselors! Positions are part-time and available to anyone over the age of 18. If you are interested in improving leadership skills, working with children, and making a few extra dollars this summer, this is the job for you. This position is excellent for college students majoring in the field of education.

Job Description

Supervising campers ages 4 – 12 (up to 16 in class environment and lunch) in a variety of environments, overseeing camper happiness and healthiness. Time is spent interacting and engaging campers to ensure students are taken care of and enjoy their time at Summer At The Academy. Time is also spent assisting classroom teachers during class time in a multitude of tasks.


EMPLOYMENT DATES: 

Orientation:     May 31st (10:00am - 3:00pm)

Camp Dates:  June 2nd –July 25th, 2025 (Closed June 19, July 4)

This is a Monday - Friday commitment                                                                                                                                                                                     

Shifts (Based on availability):

AM:      7:20 am -12:30 pm

Swing:  8:30 am - 4:00 pm

PM :    11:15 am - 6:00 pm

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 18 years of age or older

  • High school graduate

  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Able to work with children in a learning environment
  • Motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic
  • Capable of keeping cell phones put away during working hours


COUNSELOR DUTIES: 

  • Create a fun and positive environment for campers

  • Assist teachers in the classroom and actively engage with students

  • Supervise children in the classroom, in the Kids’ Place facility, and around campus
  • Supervise tables at lunch
  • Assist with student drop-off and pick-up (responsible for the safe transport of children to various areas on campus)
  • Effectively record and take attendance of groups when being transported to different areas on campus
