Grounds & Landscaping Technician

San Antonio Academy of Texas seeks a Landscaping Technician starting immediately. This position is an integral part of the school’s facilities operations and is a full time 12-month position with a generous benefits plan.

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the school is seeking a skilled Facilities team member to perform tasks related to the upkeep of campus grounds. Responsibilities include maintenance of the campus lawns, flower beds, trees, and sports field are clean, safe, and functional at all times.

Being reliable with a collaborative, professional work ethic is required. The ideal candidate will have experience and solid technical knowledge and must also possess manual dexterity and physical stamina.

Key Duties and Responsibilities Include:   

• Must have experience with grounds keeping, landscaping, lawn care, plant care, and irrigation
• Perform minor repairs to grounds keeping equipment and irrigation systems
• Conduct routine landscape maintenance tasks such as replacing, pruning, trimming, watering plants
• Assist with occasional set-ups of rooms and furnishings for meetings and events
• Perform cleaning activities such as sweeping, trash collection, leaf blowing, etc.
• Display proficiency utilizing hand and power tools and grounds keeping equipment
• Collaborate with all members of school community in an articulate and courteous manner during completion of duties
• Perform any other duties as assigned
• Report daily to Director of Facilities

Job Requirements:

• Proven experience in a similar position
• Experience using hand/power tools, riding lawn mower, string trimmer, golf cart, etc.
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and work ethic
• Physical stamina and dexterity
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed
• Must be able to lift 50+ pounds
• Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and reliable transportation
• High school diploma or equivalent
