Westchester Country Day School, a PreK-12 college preparatory school located in High Point, NC, seeks a Lower School Academic Support Teacher starting in the 2024-2025 school year. Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the field of special education with a concentration in learning differences, or a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a reading add-on licensure or concentration. Additional training in the Orton-Gillingham or Wilson Reading System approach to reading instruction is required. Candidates with a Master’s degree in special education or a concentration in reading instruction are preferred. Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement small group and one-on-one lessons that meet various student learning needs (K-5th grade).

Implement multisensory language instruction using strategies aligned with the science of reading.

Develop learning plans for students with diagnosed learning differences.

Communicate regularly with parents on student goals and progress.

Provide scaffolding and student support for all students to be able to access the curriculum successfully.

Attend weekly Student Wellness Team meetings and offer creative solutions and interventions to allow for greater student success.
