The current swing shift schedule alternates between two patterns: a 10-day on, 4-day off cycle and a 5-day on, 2day off cycle.
The first 10-day cycle consists of: Monday through Wednesday 7:00am to 3:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 6:00am to 2:00pm, with Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off.
The subsequent 5-day cycle: is Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm, with Saturday and Sunday off, and starting the 10-day cycle again.
After the second 10-day cycle ends: the next 5-evening cycle is a second shift from 2:30pm to 10:30pm, Monday through Friday, with Saturday and Sunday off, and starting the 10-day cycle again.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Operator performs work operating and maintaining wastewater treatment equipment, processes, and coordinating personnel as assigned under the general direction of a Lead Operator, Superintendent or Director. Employee is responsible for observing that all systems are operating properly. In the absence of the Lead Operator, Superintendent or Director, employee is responsible for the operation of the treatment facility on an assigned shift. Ensures that all transactions with peers and public are handled in a professional and courteous manner.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK
- Observes Treatment Plant process; monitors plant equipment and process to ascertain and assure control of equipment involved with treatment process; performs laboratory analysis to determine existing conditions when laboratory technicians are off-duty (i.e. weekends and holidays) in order to establish control responses and determines National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit discharge limitations.
- Observes plant equipment for malfunctions; isolates failed equipment; notifies appropriate personnel, e.g. Lead Operator, Maintenance Mechanic, Superintendent, or Director for corrective action.
- Runs operating system to control plant operations, responds to alarms and take corrective action to remedy conditions, inspects plant equipment to assure proper working condition, operates equipment, interacts with plant personnel concerning plant operating conditions and problems, loads and unloads sludge and transports and disposes of sludge as needed.
- Coaches and instructs Operator-ln-Training.
- Operates and maintains assigned treatment plant equipment such as chemical feed systems, pumps, blowers, sludge handling equipment, front-end loaders, and dump trucks.
- Keeps records of plant process; records measurements, readings and maintenance problems; communicates status of operation to oncoming shift. Performs sludge handling, tank cleaning, lawn care, general janitorial functions, plows snow, and other types of laborious tasks.
- Performs routine maintenance and lubrication on equipment.
