SUMMARY

The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer will design, perform capacity planning, tuning, administration, monitoring, and management of the enterprise infrastructure to include network systems, VOIP, virtualization solutions, domain controllers, storage management (Storage Area Networks, Direct Attached Storage, and Network Attached Storage), messaging systems, software applications, print and other servers, and user workstations. The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer will analyze systems for security vulnerabilities, identify available patches and upgrades, determine and apply those necessary, and mitigate the security vulnerabilities. The Infrastructure Engineer collaborates with business units to identify, select, and implement technology solutions matched to business needs. These responsibilities will all be performed employing significant discretion and independent decision-making with negligible oversight.

  • Plans, designs, coordinates, implements, and manages various enterprise systems to include Enterprise Applications, networking, VOIP, servers, virtualization, storage management (SAN, DAS, and NAS), messaging solutions, print servers and domain controller services and platforms.

  • Determines, installs, tunes, and enforces enterprise-wide operating system software; has primary responsibility for the review, analysis, and selection of systems patches to mitigate security vulnerabilities (to include operating systems, applications, and data stores.)

  • Works collaboratively with business units to identify, test, and evaluate software and hardware solutions to ensure that the technical solutions provided match the business needs. Proactively engages users to promote capabilities and proper use of supported systems and services.

  • Develops and enforces workstation images and configurations and integrates software solutions in a Microsoft Active Directory environment.

  • Analyzes, performs advanced troubleshooting, and resolves system hardware, software and networking issues associated with all enterprise systems.

  • Performs advanced systems administration activities that include capacity planning, tuning, storage management, infrastructure security and disaster recovery preparation and testing.


OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluates emerging technologies, vets vendors and solutions, and makes recommendations for new equipment and services to purchase.

  • Provides expert advice to management related to long-term business objectives.

  • Configures, optimizes, and monitors operating system software and servers.

  • Configures, optimizes, and monitors Enterprise Infrastructure including Network, Compute, and Storage.

  • Design and deploy networks; Maintain network servers such as file servers, and VPN gateways.

  • Serves as a primary administrator of the enterprise messaging systems, including E-Mail and Collaborationsolutions.

  • Manages Active Directory functions including: user account creation and login scripts.

  • Creates and maintains good technical documentation which includes detailed flow charts and diagrams outlining systems capabilities and processes.

  • Performs on-site and remote technical support.

  • Provides emergency on-call support on a rotating schedule.• Cybersecurity is a part of everyone’s responsibility and is considered the responsibility of this role.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of experience in banking or IT.

  • 3+ years of experience in Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer role.

  • 5+ years of experience with network solutions, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.

  • Some experience with Software Development terms and techniques, like Version Control, Test Driven

  • Development, CI/CD, and Test Automation.

  • Some experience with cloud technologies like Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Microsoft O365.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with the following:

    • Current Windows Server platforms with an emphasis on Active Directory and security best practices

    • Installing and configuring database systems, such as SQL Server

    • Enterprise corporate messaging and collaboration systems such as Microsoft Exchange

    • Current Microsoft Windows client operating systems

    • Windows print servers, domain controllers and all associated Windows services

    • Windows scripting, PowerShell, PowerShell DSC, and/or Configuration Management tools like Puppet, Ansible, or Chef.

    • Printers, printer drivers and printer set up on a Windows Active Directory platform.

    • LAN and WAN infrastructure including firewalls, routing, VPN, DHCP, WINS, DNS, IP v4, IP v6 and NIC configurations.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school degree required. Bachelor’s Degree required or relevant work experience.

  • Required technical certifications include:

    • MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional)

    • Microsoft Windows Server

    • Microsoft Exchange preferred

    • Microsoft Active Directory preferred

    • Network Certification preferred (Network+ or Cisco certification)

  • Ability to evaluate technology trends for company adoption.

  • Ability to use various tools and techniques to design, configure and analyze infrastructure.

  • Strong ability in creating Windows scripts and triggers, script and automate configuration management for infrastructure components.

  • Must have quality customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and is a team player with the ability to work well independently as well as within teams.

  • Highly motivated. Must be able to work effectively with minimal oversight and supervision, but with the ability to keep management informed.

  • Effective communication skills, both orally in writing. Must be able to explain technical information in an easyto-understand fashion to end users. Must be able to effectively communicate within the IT team, as well as with all levels in the organization and outside vendors.

  • Must possess excellent organization and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize. Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Strong analytical ability and demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills. Considered an out of the box thinker and displays a willingness to learn.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Normal office working environment. Must be able to travel to other office locations when required.
