POSITION TITLE:    Advanced Practice Fellowship Program Director

REPORTS TO (TITLE):  Chief Medical Officer

SALARY RANGE: $146,489 - $204,588 DOE

 

Job Summary:  Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, the Advance Practice Fellowship Program Director is a clinician leader with direct patient care responsibility who is responsible for the management of faculty, staff, and residents within the Advanced Practice Fellowship Program and responsible for day-to-day management of the program. This is a primary care fellowship in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).

Specific Tasks/Duties Include:

  • Maintains accountability and oversight of all participating sites/specialites;
  • Agrees to serve as primary point of contact with the ANCC PTAP/APPFA team.
  • Program maintains compliance with APPFA requirements.
  • Disclosure of previous program denials, suspensions, or revocations of any ANCC credential, upon application and during the accreditation term;
  • Work directly with health center operations in scheduling fellows’ clinical time and maintain primary care panels within the program to meet curriculum requirements. 
  • Onboard, train, and support teaching skills of preceptors; maintain and communicate the schedule of preceptor faculty as needed to support fellowship curriculum.
  • Responsible for the recruitment and training of diverse NP and PA candidates, preferably with an interest in leadership
  • Cultivates leadership in health care.  Trains and develop fellows in providing high quality adult, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and women’s health care, behavioral health with emphases in team-based care, quality improvement efficiency, appropriate documentation and coding.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate and revise resident selection, progression, retention and successful completion of the program.
  • Provide academic advising to fellows.  Manage fellows’ education and performance, including feedback and evaluation.
  • Maintain office hours for fellow consultation and advisement. 
  • Direct the design, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum using a written plan.
  • Provide didactic instruction and clinical experiences that achieve the learning objectives and curriculum of the Advanced Practice Fellowship Program.
  • Instructional responsibilities include direct patient care precepting fellows, course development, assessment of fellow outcomes, research and development of current resources for instruction, and utilization and development of innovative instructional methods for adult clinical learners.
  • Evaluate fellows including timely reporting of fellow grades (assessments) and progress.
  • Evaluate the performance of faculty members annually and assure high quality clinical instruction with faculty development and management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Current unrestricted California license as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate, or eligible for CA licensure.
  • Possess a national board certification as a PA or an APRN
  • Minimum 5 years of practice as a medical provider
  • Minimum 3 years-experience in healthcare management
  • Significant teaching experience
  • Demonstrates commitment to utilizing innovative teaching practices to enhance a learning environment and serve as a professional role model to the fellows
  • Demonstrates expertise as primary care provider providing high quality care to populations served by the health centers
  • Experience caring for patients with chronic pain and substance use disorders is strongly preferred
  • Has education or experience in adult learning principles.
  • Experience with caring for ethnically/culturally diverse populations is strongly preferred
  • Bilingual English & Spanish strongly preferred
  • Minimum 2 years experience on electronic medical records
  • Demonstrates knowledge of compliance issues within the community clinic environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through verbal, written, and electronic means
