Description

PROGRAM AND RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY:

Episcopal Community Services (ECS) in partnership with community-based organizations and City departments are working together to house thousands currently residing in SIP Hotels. Through Our City, Our Home funding ECS is expanding their Rapid Rehousing (RR) programs. Rapid Rehousing offers mid-term rental assistance combined with linkages to employment and other supportive services, in order to end clients homelessness and create long term self-sufficiency. The Rapid Rehousing Stabilization Specialist supports a caseload of approximately 20 clients enrolled in the Rapid Rehousing programs throughout the process of locating, transitioning into and stabilizing in their housing. Services are offered and delivered using a Housing First, tenant-centered, Harm Reduction model, employing a trauma-informed approach and motivational interviewing techniques.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support clients in viewing units and completing applications for units that meet the clients preferences.
  • Develop a Housing Stability Plan with the client and complete the reassessment every 3 months.
  • Provide education on being a respectful neighbor and responsible tenant to clients in order to promote stabilization and successful tenancy.
  • Identify tenant behaviors that may jeopardize their housing and intervene when necessary to accomplish successful tenancy.
  • Coach tenants on relationships with landlords and/or other tenants.
  • Assist with the resolution of disputes.
  • Advocate and link tenants to eviction-prevention resources around the community.
  • Verify and document clients income and calculate monthly rents based on program formula.
  • Conduct visits in the clients home to ensure compliance with lease and program agreement. Ensure that clients have basic life skills including but not limited to home care skills. Provide practical life skills training on site as needed.
  • Address the change of home and familiar location with tenants; the potential for isolation, how to pay bills, manage visitors and relationships, etc.
  • Keep accurate records and charts, enter required data in CaseWorthy and ONE System.
  • Outreaching to current clients who are not actively engaging in stabilization services. Every client should be seen in person no less than once monthly to provide ongoing support, verify income information and communicate any changes.
  • Provide professional, accessible, and culturally relevant support, advocacy, information, and referrals to program participants.
  • Work within and promote the integrated services team model in an environment dedicated to harm reduction, recovery, and wellness.
  • Provide referral services as needed

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 1-year case management experience.
  • Experience in homeless and housing services preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in the area of social service preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and familiarity with using a computer
  • Bilingual, Spanish/English preferred.
  • Able to listen with sensitivity to other peoples feelings, needs, and point of view.
  • Excellent working knowledge of houselessness resources in the Bay Area.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of and sensitivity to adults with substance abuse, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, mental health issues, history of trauma and co-occurring diagnoses.
  • Must have the ability to welcome and respect co-workers and client populations as unique individuals with different backgrounds, perspectives as well as differences in personalities, skill sets, life experiences, and knowledge bases.
  • Lived experienced preferred, but not necessary.

 

OTHER:

Must secure finger image screening and annual TB screening. Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position which may include long periods at a desk and/or computer workstation, daily travel to various sites, and lifting of up to 25 lbs.
