HSP151 - Behavioral Health Clinician II - Full Time - Exempt (HSP16)

PROGRAM AND RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY:

Episcopal Community Services is launching a Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool (FHSP) program. New to San Francisco, FHSP is an exciting permanent housing intervention focusing on rehousing SIP guests. FHSP participants are provided permanent subsidies for private market units and offered housing stabilization services to support the integration into new housing. Under the direction of the Housing Coordination and Retention Manager, the Behavioral Health Clinician II provides ongoing intensive stabilization support to seniors (60+) referred to the FHSP program. The Behavioral Health Clinician II works in partnership with the Housing Coordinator and Retention Specialist to ensure the participant integrates into housing successfully.

• Provide professional and culturally relevant support, advocacy, information and referrals to program participants in order to guide them through a process of self-directed goal-setting that builds upon client strengths and talents.
• Maintain a caseload of different billable activities (Medi-Cal and non Medi-Cal) episode opening and progress notes
• Achieve a broad understanding of the resources and services available in the community for clients with acute behavioral health needs.
• Provide information and referral to clients on an ongoing basis. This may include information such as benefit entitlement, drug and alcohol treatment programs, vocational training, legal services, INS and immigration services, health and mental health services, housing and community resources.
• Provide crisis management and ongoing therapeutic response to clients experiencing symptoms associated with their behavioral health issues.
• Perform case management and crisis intervention when needed; maintains complete and accurate progress notes and document all contacts with clients.
• Make home visits to participants living in private market units.
• Identify tenant behaviors that may jeopardize their housing and collaborate with the Housing Coordinator and Retention Specialist when necessary to accomplish successful tenancy.
• Work within and promote the integrated services team model in an environment dedicated to harm reduction, recovery, and wellness.
• Provide referral services as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience providing full-scope Mental Health services billing Medi-Cal is strongly preferred.
• Masters degree in social work or related field, with BBS registration (required) or licensure.
• Experience working in integrated service teams using participant-centered harm-reduction approaches. 
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and familiarity with using a computer
• Bilingual, Spanish/English preferred.
• Able to listen with sensitivity to other peoples feelings, needs, and point of view.
• Excellent working knowledge of houselessness resources in the Bay Area.  
• Possess a strong knowledge of and sensitivity to adults with substance abuse, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, mental health issues, history of trauma and co-occurring diagnoses. 
• Must have the ability to welcome and respect co-workers and client populations as unique individuals with different backgrounds, perspectives as well as differences in personalities, skill sets, life experiences, and knowledge bases.
• Lived experienced preferred, but not necessary.

OTHER:

Must secure finger image screening and annual TB screening. Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position which may include long periods at a desk and/or computer workstation, daily travel to various sites, and lifting of up to 25 lbs.
