Job Description:

Job Title: Automation Engineer

Position Summary:

Magna Legal Services is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our team! The Automation Engineer plays a critical role in Magna’s enterprise-wide automation strategy. This role focuses on identifying, designing, and implementing automated workflows using tools such as Microsoft Power Automate, RPA platforms, and AI-driven agents.

You will work directly with business stakeholders, process owners, data engineers, and AI engineers to streamline operations, eliminate manual work, and integrate intelligent automation into core business processes. The ideal candidate is both a strong technologist and a thoughtful problem-solver who thrives in cross-functional environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Automation Strategy & Discovery
    • Identify high-impact, high-volume manual workflows suitable for automation across all business units.
    • Conduct process discovery sessions, interviews, and shadowing to map current-state workflows.
    • Evaluate automation feasibility, complexity, and ROI to help prioritize the automation roadmap.
  • Design & Development
    • Build scalable automations using tools such as Power Automate, Power Apps, RPA platforms (UI flows, bot frameworks, or third-party RPA tools), and AI-integrated workflows.
    • Develop end-to-end automation solutions including triggers, connectors, data integrations, APIs, and exception handling.
    • Partner with AI engineers to embed AI agents, LLMs, OCR, and NLP models into automations where appropriate.
    • Build reusable components, standard templates, and best practices for enterprise automation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with data engineers to ensure access to clean, structured data and integrate with internal systems.
    • Collaborate with AI engineers to incorporate intelligent decision-making, summarization, or classification into automated processes.
    • Partner with business SMEs to validate requirements, test solutions, and ensure adoption.
    • Communicate progress, challenges, and results to leadership and business teams.
  • Operations, Testing & Support
    • Conduct rigorous testing to ensure automations are accurate, reliable, and resilient to system changes.
    • Establish monitoring, alerting, and reporting to track automation performance and usage.
    • Provide documentation, training, and support to end users where necessary.
    • Troubleshoot and optimize automations as business processes evolve.
  • Governance & Compliance
    • Adhere to security, data integrity, and compliance requirements (including any applicable legal or medical data standards).
    • Support the development of enterprise automation governance—including version control, auditing, and lifecycle management.

Qualifications:

  • 3–6+ years of experience in workflow automation, RPA engineering, or application development.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Automate (cloud flows, desktop flows), Power Apps, and related automation platforms.
  • Experience implementing RPA solutions with tools such as UIPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, or similar (bonus).
  • Strong understanding of API integrations, data flows, and system-to-system connectivity.
  • Ability to break down complex business processes into structured automation logic.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with technical and non-technical teams.
  • A process-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience integrating AI/ML models, GPT/LLM agents, OCR, or NLP into workflows.
  • Experience in legal services, medical records processing, insurance, or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with process mining or task mining tools (Celonis, Power Automate Process Mining, etc.).
  • Knowledge of databases, SQL, or scripting languages (Python, JavaScript) is a plus.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional engineering organization with Agile or Kanban methodologies.

What We Offer:

  • The opportunity to build a next-generation Enterprise Automation Program from the ground up.
  • Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team across AI, engineering, operations, and business functions.
  • A mission-driven environment focused on efficiency, innovation, and transformative technology.
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and growth opportunities within a modern, evolving technology organization.

Compensation: USD $100,00 - $125,000 per year.

An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
