General Purpose: The Construction & Financial Equipment Manager is responsible for managing all phases of construction and renovation in credit union facilities, including planning, cost negotiations and budget management, contractor oversight, quality control, and timeline management. will oversee various construction projects from start to finish, ensuring that schedules are met, budgets are followed, and quality of work performed by others is completed to an acceptable standard. Responsible for coordinating relevant parties within the credit union and vendors, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure a timely, completed project that meets the credit union’s standards for form and function. Also responsible for maintaining the physical security program and ensuring physical security systems perform as needed and that stakeholders have the training and support needed to safely manage operations. Responsible for financial equipment in all credit union facilities ensuring each location has functional equipment that meets the needs of staff.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Provides leadership in all stages of construction/renovation by collaborating with internal stakeholders, architects, engineers, and other involved parties to ensure completion of projects on time and within budget expectations. Ensures adherence to the budget and, when unexpected complications or issues arise, makes quick and necessary adjustments. Communicates budget variances timely.
- Selects, contracts, and oversees contractors for specific construction needs. Supervises each contractor and subcontractor to ensure that work meets quality standards and adheres to specifications. Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides timely progress reports to management and architects; makes recommendations for necessary modifications.
- Resolves construction or design issues, working professionally with contractors as needed.
- Plans, coordinates, organizes, oversees, and directs activities regarding the construction and maintenance of assigned structures, facilities, and systems.
- Ensures safety standards and guidelines are followed on the jobsite and that all safety codes are met in construction.
- Oversees, in conjunction with in-house legal counsel, contract negotiations, revisions, and additions and adherence by all parties.
- Develops and maintains good working relationships with a variety of people, including management, engineers, architects, designers, contractors, vendors, tradespersons, and craft workers.
- Manages and oversees the physical security program for the credit union, including maintaining security equipment, working with subcontractors to ensure all equipment is functioning properly and is in good repair.
- Works with management to determine security needs and ensures sufficient security is provided in all locations. Maintains working relationship with law enforcement in the towns where branches are located.
- Responsible for working with internal and external resources to create training that addresses physical security needs and changes in security trends.
- Responsible for managing the inventory of financial equipment at each credit union location ensuring equipment is in good working condition. Remain up to date on equipment enhancements and changing trends related to financial equipment usage. Work with internal stakeholders to understand equipment needs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the CAO.
Job Knowledge
- Extensive knowledge of construction, from design to permitting to construction to managing punch lists.
- Thorough understanding of contracts, design plans, specifications, and regulations.
- Thorough understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Knowledge of credit union rules, products, services, regulations and procedures.
- Knowledge of credit union philosophies, techniques, policies, and practices and its interrelated functions.

Job Qualifications (Education/Experience)
- Job requires a four-year college level of language, math and reasoning skills.
- 7 years of similar or related experience required, with a minimum of 5 years experience in construction.

Must be on-call to address security alarms, delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at a jobsite or with security matters.
Occasional travel to one of BHFCU’s branch locations or attendance at community events may be required.
Physical Requirements
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of a jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise, as well as outside in various degrees of heat and cold. Some exposure to construction site dangers.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace.
