Job Title:  NLK North Associate Director of Kids Ministry 

Department: Family Ministries 

Reports to: North Kids Pastor  

Status: Full-Time  

Schedule: Sun—Thurs | 32–40 hours 

Supervisory role: Yes 

Oversees: Early Childhood Coordinator, Elementary Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator

New Life Church's mission is to make disciples in the Pikes Peak region, by calling people to worship, connect and serve.   

Job Summary  

To co-labor with parents in leading children to Jesus through worship, equipping them to live for God, and grow as disciples. We will make disciples as we invite, equip, support and empower our teams (paid and volunteer staff) in the ownership of ministry for the sake of the gospel.  

The Associate Director of Kids Ministry will partner with the Executive Pastor in overseeing the day-to-day operations of kids ministry at New Life North. This will include the oversight of the Early Childhood and Elementary Coordinators. The Associate Director will partner with the Executive Pastor in the holistic development of a vibrant kids ministry within the Family Ministry Model of New Life Church. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Partner with the Kids Pastor to develop and implement the overall strategy for kid’s ministry. 

  • Lead, plan, develop, and execute ongoing children’s ministry programming, in partnership with the Kids Pastor and other members of the Kid’s Ministry Team. 

  • Develop and implement an ongoing plan to recruit, train and provide ongoing support and care for Kid’s Ministry volunteers.  

  • Build and maintain a fun and safe atmosphere to welcome children and families. 

  • Actively engage a wide range of members throughout the congregation, sharing the scope, value, and opportunities in kid’s ministry, while also gaining knowledge of the congregation and its gifts. 

  • Oversee the implementation of engaging, spiritually forming, and age-appropriate curriculum for the nursery, preschool and elementary Sunday services.  

  • Work closely with the Kids Pastor to align programming, implement church-wide initiatives, and maintain a cohesive ministry vision.  

  • Encourage and foster the ongoing professional development of the Early Childhood and Elementary Coordinators.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

  • Knowledge of child development stages and appropriate teaching methods for different age groups.  

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams of staff and volunteers, providing effective training and mentorship. 

  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to work in both Windows and Mac platforms in addition to other applications used by NewLife Church staff. 

  • Ability to build a team and provide strong leadership. 

  • Effective communication problem-solving skills. 

  • Effective interpersonal skills. 

  • Knowledgeable of Bible theology and doctrine. 

  • Highly motivated initiator, possessing competent public relations skills. 

  • Detail-oriented, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and self-motivated. 

  • Heart and attitude of a life-long learner. 

  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively and tactfully at all levels. 

  • Servant’s heart with spiritual maturity and sensitivity, a personable and helpful attitude and ability to translate the Family Ministries vision into effective experiences for families and children. 

  • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information. 

Education and Experience   

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree 

Experience: Minimum two to three years in Children’s Ministry or similar setting, developing, and producing ministry and outreach programs. 

Working Conditions and Requirements 

Physical Demands: 

  • Regularly required to sit and occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally life and or move up to 25 pounds. 

  • Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Close visual acuity to is necessary to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
