SUMMARY

The Sheet Metal Fabrication Cost Estimator is responsible for evaluating customer requirements and preparing accurate cost estimates for sheet metal products and fabrication projects. This includes analyzing drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. The Estimator will collaborate closely with the sales, engineering, and production teams to ensure competitive and accurate quotations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Review and interpret customer RFQs (Request for Quotations), blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Analyze and estimate labor, material, and time requirements for sheet metal fabrication projects.
  • Calculate production costs based on material usage, machining times, tooling, labor rates, and overhead.
  • Prepare detailed and itemized cost estimates and submit quotations within specified deadlines.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve any discrepancies in drawings or specifications.
  • Support the sales team with technical and pricing information during customer negotiations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience considered
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in cost estimating within the sheet metal fabrication industry.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication methods including cutting, bending, welding, punching, and assembly.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and CAD files (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Experience with manufacturing ERP software. EPICOR or Syteline ERP is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
