SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

A Lawn and Garden Technician is responsible for inspecting, services, and repairs motorized lawn and farm power equipment. A successful L&G Service Technician will perform the following in a way that reflects the mission of H&R Agri-Power’s mission to provide quality products/services at a fair price to afford a reasonable return on assets.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Inspect and listen to equipment, read inspection reports, and confer with customers to locate and diagnose malfunctions.
  2. Dismantle machines and replace defective and/or worn parts using a variety of hand tools.
  3. Perform routine engine maintenance, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts.
  4. Provides timely and quality repairs and maintenance of the customer’s equipment.
  5. Maintain detailed and accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed and parts used.
  6. Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools.
  7. Utilize manuals, schematics, drawings, and procedures from multiple brands to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and repair appropriately.
  8. Operate basic knowledge to operate hand tools, sotters, welders, forklifts, heavy machinery, cranes, and other potentially critical supplies properly, with caution, and remain compliant with all company and government procedures and regulations.
  9. Discuss needs with customers, keep them updated about progress, and inform of any changes and/or unexpected costs.
  10. Maintain a tidy and organized work area that’s free of debris, fluids, and potential hazards.
  11. Complete all training that is assigned by deadline that has been set.
  12. Gain and maintain knowledge on all of H&R Agri-Power’s current equipment and products.
  13. Remain familiar with new industry upgrades and technology.
  14. Carry out other duties as assigned by leadership.
  15. Maintain a positive, professional, and safe work environment by interacting with customers, peers, management, and support resources in a way that promotes teamwork and a commitment to excellence.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience navigating a computer.
  • 1+ years of experience as a Small Engine/L&G Technician
  • Small engine experience preferred, but not required.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Possess basic mechanical experience with small engines.
  • Be open and flexible to different job tasks.
  • Possess first-rate time management and self-motivation.
  • Able and willing to work in a team setting.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee or with reasonable accommodation to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to move around the dealership building and grounds without assistance.
  • Ability to repeatedly bend, crouch, kneel, stand, reach, grasp, crawl, walk, push, pull, or climb.
  • Ability to climb in, out of, and under equipment.
  • Ability to operate all vehicles and equipment safely to prevent injury to self or others.
  • Lift 10 pounds regularly, lift up-to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally lift 80 pounds.
  • Possess a visual acuity that will allow you to see small cracks, holes, and parts.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment or outside in inclement weather.
