Description:

Oregon Corrections Enterprises (OCE) is seeking a full-time Product Development Manager, located at our Administration Office in Salem, Oregon. The Product Development Manager leads the design, development, and standardization of OCE’s furniture product offerings, ensuring they are innovative, market-ready, and aligned with customer needs. This position is responsible for designing modern, functional furniture solutions informed by customer input, market trends, and internal and external stakeholder feedback. The manager develops detailed drawings, specifications, and prototypes to support product development and ensure manufacturing readiness, while standardizing product lines across key categories such as seating, office, dorm, lounge, and systems furniture. The role collaborates closely with internal teams, including Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales, and Marketing, to align product development with operational capabilities and business objectives. It also supports the creation of marketing and promotional materials, engages with agency and customer stakeholders to validate product concepts, and ensures alignment with end-user needs. The Product Development Manager drives process improvements, maintains accurate documentation and catalog data, and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product quality, cost efficiency, time-to-market, and sustainability. Additionally, the position represents OCE at trade shows and industry events, monitors market trends and competitor activity, and acts as a brand ambassador. This role also provides management support as needed, including serving as a backup for the General Manager and participating in cross-functional initiatives that support OCE’s strategic growth.  This position offers a competitive compensation package including employer paid health, vision, dental, paid time off, and retirement through the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), and 11 paid holidays per year.

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience designing modern, functional furniture solutions informed by customer needs, market trends, and stakeholder input
  • Ability to develop detailed drawings, specifications, and prototypes to support manufacturing readiness
  • Knowledge of standardizing product lines across categories such as seating, office, dorm, lounge, and systems furniture
  • Familiarity with sourcing, material selection, and maintaining accurate catalog and product documentation
  • Proficiency in CAD/3D modeling and Adobe Create Suite
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales and Marketing teams
  • Experience supporting the development of marketing materials such as brochures, banners, and trade show assets
  • Skills in gathering stakeholder feedback and aligning product development with end-user needs
  • Ability to track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product quality, cost efficiency, and time-to-market
  • Experience representing an organization at trade shows, conferences, and industry events
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and alignment with strategic goals

Working Conditions:

  • May be required to work some late and unusual hours, including some weekends
  • Requires willingness to travel in or out of state, including some overnight trips
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to climb stairs without assistive aids
  • Travel throughout the institution(s) will be required on a regular basis

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of management experience in a public or private organization, including responsibility for operational performance, program development and evaluation, policy implementation, goal setting, and budget preparation

OR

  • Two (2) years of experience listed above, and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Interior Architecture, Business Administration, management, Industrial Engineering/Technology, Supply Chain Management, or a similar or relevant field of study.

AND

  • Pass an initial and annual Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) criminal background check
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening
