POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Engineering is responsible for the overall maintenance and safety of the Hotel. They ensure that the building complies with all regulations and oversees the day-to-day maintenance as well as the long-term preventative maintenance and capital plans. They are responsible for emergency response and safety plans to ensure that guests and associates are safe at all times.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatments, and electrical systems in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Develop an engineering operating strategy that is aligned with the Company’s business strategy.
- Coach and support Engineering team to effectively manage preventative maintenance programs, daily room calls, and controllable expenses.
- Work with the property and corporate leadership team to effectively increase Guest Satisfaction scores and highlight areas of concern.
- Operate within budgeted operating costs and effectively execute all budgeted capital expenditures.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain property life safety systems.
- Participate in P&L reviews and the budgeting process for all areas of responsibility.
- Act as the Hotel liaison regarding fire, life, safety, and all planning/code requirements.
- Participate in departmental meetings and continually communicate a clear and consistent message regarding the departmental goals to produce the desired results.
- Ensure all associates have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train Repairs & Maintenance associates.
- Conduct performance evaluations and discipline staff when needed.
- Maintain a professional and personable appearance at all times, according to hotel standards.
- Successfully achieve the hotel’s core competencies including work product, teamwork and culture, guest and customer service, work ethic, impact-oriented problem solver, and entrepreneurship.
- Successfully achieve the hotel’s core values of ownership, innovation, craft, respect, and community.
- Primary duty will be managing the business and their department. They will regularly direct the work of two or more associates and have the authority to hire and terminate.
