SUMMARY: The Clinical Team Assistant (CTA) uses experience, knowledge, judgment and skills for the coordination and smooth operation of all office functions.  This position plays an integral part in supporting the clinical staff and assisting the manager by facilitating the timely flow of information between internal and external customers as well as performing clerical duties.  The CTA identifies lifestyle choices and non-judgmentally accommodates for such differences.  The CTA is committed to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Hospice concept while consistently demonstrating the Hospice Savannah values and compliance with the organization’s service excellence standards.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent required, Associate’s Degree preferred.  Two years work experience in a similar clerical role, preferably in a healthcare environment preferred.  Additional education or experience in Medical Terminology and accurate data entry or typing skills preferred.  Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and database knowledge required.  Ability to successfully interact and communicate with patients, families, physicians, medical office staff, Hospice Savannah staff, and the community along with excellent customer service skills required.  Working knowledge of general office equipment to include multi-line phone systems, fax machines, and copiers required. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires moderate visual concentration, reading, and operating a computer.  This position requires the ability to lift up to 20 lbs. utilizing proper body mechanics and the mobility to bend, twist and stoop as necessary for filing, typing and other general office work and the ability to sit for extended periods of time at a computer screen at a desk.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: A full-time position works a 30-40 hour work week, rotating days, evenings, or weekends, with occasional requests to work additional days/hours/holidays as needed.  At times, due to patient census and acuity, this position may be required to remain on site at Hospice House during meal breaks.  This position may encounter stressful situations with patients and their families regarding end of life care.  Additionally, this position may be exposed to infectious diseases requiring use of standard precautions. Although each Clinical Team Assistant may be assigned to a specific department, they may be required to work in other areas.  This position may require some travel between Hospice Savannah sites utilizing a personal vehicle.
