  • Pain Management:

They administer prescribed pain medications and adjust treatment plans as needed to manage pain effectively.

  • Medication Administration:

PACU nurses administer medications as prescribed, including those related to pain, nausea, or other post-operative symptoms.

  • Airway Management:

They may assist with airway management, such as monitoring oxygen levels and providing support for patients who may need assistance with breathing.

  • Patient Education:

PACU nurses educate patients and their families about post-operative care, potential complications, and when to seek further medical attention.

  • Documentation:

They accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and progress in the medical record.

  • Communication:

PACU nurses communicate effectively with other members of the healthcare team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and floor nurses, to ensure a smooth transition of care.

  • Assessment and Monitoring:

PACU nurses continuously assess patients' vital signs, level of consciousness, pain levels, and other parameters to identify any potential complications.
