Supervisory Responsibilities: Claims Specialist, Billing Customer Service Representative, Posting Clerk, Imaging Clerk, Lead Claims Specialist, Verification Specialist

Objective: The Assistant Manager of Billing and Accounts Receivable manages all activities of the Billing Department with the supervision of the Manager of the department. The Assistant will serve as a backup to the Manager.

Essential Duties:

  • Know and support the Mission Statement, Policy/Procedures and standards of MMR.
  • Responsible for managing the work activities of the Billing department.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, disciplining and evaluating employees of the Billing Department at the discretion of the manager.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding KPIs. (Days in AR, Days to bill, clean claim billing)
  • Recommend organizational and staffing requirements.
  • Support the development and performance of billing staff through mentoring, coaching, and regular performance feedback.
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize billing and AR processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, payer requirements, internal policies for data privacy and billing accuracy.
  • Monitor and implement regulatory or payer updates impacting billing practices.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend system or workflow improvements to enhance billing accuracy and reduce denials.
  • Generate and analyze AR and billing performance reports to identify trends and develop action plans.
  • Ability to lead through change, resolve conflicts effectively, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skill and Competency Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience with at least 1 years of experience in a supervisory or management position
  • Associate’s degree required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business related field preferred
  • Advanced computer skills including the ability to utilize a computer PC with Windows operating system
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including but not limited to, copier, fax machine, scanner, monitor, multi-line telephone, printer, typewriter and calculator
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Skilled in typing, data entry, electronic filing and document retrieval
  • Knowledge of general accounting principals
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in the English language
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Physical Factors: Suitable dexterity to operate standard office equipment. Capability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions: Most work is done in a typical office setting, but with daily exposure in all other department areas.
