Job Title: Visiting Assistant Professor of Business

Classification: Two-year, full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure track faculty position

Reports To:  Division Head, Social Sciences and Humanities

 

Job Summary/Objective:

Sweet Briar College invites applications for a full-time, Visiting Assistant Professor of Business, for a two-year initial appointment, beginning in Fall 2025. The College is seeking candidates with professional experience and teaching interests in financial and managerial accounting, finance, and related business areas.  Responsibilities include teaching, advising students, scholarly and/or applied work, and departmental and College service.

The incumbent will teach undergraduate-level business courses in accounting and finance, as well as at least two courses per year in the Women’s Leadership Core Curriculum, our version of a general education curriculum.  Teaching additional courses in candidates' areas of expertise is welcome and will be coordinated based on student needs and interests with the Division Head and Dean of the College.

The College’s academic calendar, with immersive 3-week terms and more traditional longer terms, creates an opportunity for innovative courses to take advantage of close student-faculty interactions and collaboration across disciplines. The full-time faculty teaching load is three, 3-credit course equivalents per semester.  Sweet Briar prides itself on creating a learning environment that encourages young women to fulfill their highest potential. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

● Professional experience and teaching interests in business, financial, and managerial accounting, and finance

● Demonstrated commitment to outstanding teaching

● Minimum of 3-5 years’ professional working experience in public accounting and/or private industry

● Excellent communication skills

● Professional licensure (CPA or CMA) is preferred

● Master’s degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field from an AACSB-accredited institution
