OUR MISSION

The Family Place empowers survivors of family violence by providing safe housing, counseling, and skills that create independence while building community engagement and advocating for social change to stop family violence.

The Family Place has an immediate opening for the Head of Human Resources, which will report directly to the CEO and be a member of the executive leadership team. In this role, the head of Human Resources will be responsible for all aspects of human resources for the agency, ensuring the agency has the human capital to deliver on its mission. The head of Human Resources will serve as a key partner to the senior members of the executive team, collaborating to develop and foster a work environment aligned with The Family Place’s (TFP’s) core values, strategic plan, and long-term mission and goals.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting, Sourcing, and Hiring: Developing and maintaining a recruiting strategy for the agency. Responsible for assessing needs, sourcing, and the hiring processes.
  • Culture: Assessing the organizational culture and implementing processes and initiatives to create an environment of high performance, teamwork, and inclusion.
  • People Strategies: Lead strategy-focused planning activities for the agency, including workforce planning, organizational design, talent/succession planning, and change management.
  • Inclusion and Belonging: Provide oversight and implementation for all Belonging efforts and strategies; collaborate with leadership to design agency policies that evaluate and reinforce diversity, equity, and inclusivity through all personnel practices.
  • Business Partner and Strategic Advisor: Partner with executive leadership and oversee the ongoing review and tracking of the strategic plan goals and outcomes for all focus areas.
  • Core People Processes: Lead in the design, execution and monitoring of core people processes, including performance management, development offerings, and survey processes.
  • Employee Relations: Oversee, consult, and advise on employee relations and discipline matters, collaborating with general counsel when needed.
  • Total Rewards: Oversee benefits and payroll strategy and management, personnel manual, agency policies and procedures, and employee communications to ensure compliance, appropriateness, and value.
  • Partner with the Board: Be the staff liaison to the with (HCC) Human Capital Committee and Board of Directors on special projects such as compensation studies, risk management, training, policies, and procedures, etc.; schedules and coordinates monthly HCC meetings for members and prepares material for HCC Chairperson for Board of Director meetings.
  • Legal and Compliance: Ensure compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Other duties as designated by the CEO or as required to assist in the needs of the agency.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field.
  • Experience leading an HR department supporting 100+ employees.
  • 5 to 7 years of work experience in Human Resources, preferably in a leadership role covering multiple HR disciplines.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Effective listening skills, facilitating meetings, interpersonal aptitude, leadership, management of staff and personnel administration.
  • Knowledge of current employment laws.
  • Knowledge and intermediate experience with MSOffice Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Knowledge and understanding of ATS Applicant Tracking and HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of LMS (learning management systems)
  • Ability to work with employees, leadership team, donors, and board members.
  • Ability to set goals, build action plans, and achieve results.
  • Ability to coach, train, and mentor staff and program directors.
  • Ability to plan for the long term while achieving short-term results.
  • Ability to design employee programs, lead change management, and generate engagement.
  • Skilled at making quick and accurate decisions and communicating with a diverse population; meeting deadlines and schedules; working with detailed information; working on multiple projects and dealing with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Advanced knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations regarding unemployment, workers’ compensation, and employment-related laws.

 

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP Certification is preferred but not required.

 

Working Environment: 

  • Must be able to spend prolonged periods working on a computer and telephone.
  • Able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 5 pounds frequently.
  • Able to travel between offices to represent the department.
  • Able to work under frequent deadlines and interruptions.
  • Able to meet predictable and consistent attendance standards.
  • Duties are typically performed seated, with occasional periods of standing or walking.
  • Limited physical effort is required, primarily involving lifting and carrying objects under 25 pounds.
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment but may include other settings as needed.
