POSITION SUMMARY

The Buyer is responsible for ensuring the supply of materials at a site to support manufacturing. The successful candidate for this position has experience in the manufacturing industry and a strong understanding of supply chain management concepts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES

• Work in conjunction with a team of Buyers to purchase electronic components, bare boards, hardware, custom fabricated parts, and subcontracting services.
• Interact with Engineers, Project Managers, Quality Management, and Production to ensure that all procurement needs are met.
• Work with the Accounting department to ensure that all material is properly tracked and processed.
• Manage inventory according to policies and procedures; manage reverse logistics and returns for material that does not meet requirements.
• Develop vendor relationships in support best outcomes for cost, scope, schedule, and quality.
• Utilize current data in support of reorders.
• Execute on savings targets as directed by management.
• Conduct sourcing analyses based on supplier quotes to recommend the best suppliers to award business to.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Required background:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Preferred background:
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.S.) from four-year college or university
  • 3-5 years of related experience in purchasing for electronics manufacturing
  • Prior experience in ERP system, Epicor preferred.
• Required skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving ability to help streamline procurement and inventory management processes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Preferred skills:
  • Proven track record of negotiating favorable vendor terms in accordance with specified targets.
  • Demonstrable commitment to continuous improvement of processes in the areas of quality, cost, delivery, and lead time.
  • Business Analytics skills—Excel formulas and pivot tables, SQL, statistical analysis
