Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.

 

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Marketing Account Coordinator will report to the Director of Business Development and serves as a key role in assisting the Director in executing the organization’s business development strategy and new behavioral and addiction treatment service line growth and expansion plans.

Marketing Account Coordinator will promote Gateways services, programs, and mission to the community. This position is responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing campaigns to increase the visibility and awareness of the organization, developing strategic payer and referral source relationships, while facilitating new and ongoing client, family and community stakeholder high touch engagement. The role combines creativity with data-driven decision-making to improve outreach effectiveness and build customer trust.

 

ESSENTIALS DUTIES

  • Works in collaboration with the Director of Business Development to develop new business and referral source relationships / partnerships throughout Gateways Los Angeles County service area that lead to new service line expansion and referral development opportunities.
  • Conducts external, in-community (face to face) marketing and business development activities to generate new payer contract opportunities and identify new referral sources that generate admissions into Gateways adult and youth treatment programs as
  • well as enrollees into Gateways Enhanced Care Management program.
  • Will develop and manage a formal network of referral sources comprised of community-based organizations (acute care hospitals, primary care clinics, schools, county agencies, health and human services organizations, social service agencies, etc) to drive high volume client referrals to Gateways programs, in order to meet targeted program case load and revenue goals.
  • Responsible for the account management of key payers (commercial health plans, Medi-Cal managed care plans) and community-based referral sources, ensuring Gateways services embody customer service at all touch points, both internally and externally.
  • Proactively ensures customers (payers, referral sources, and clients) are receiving Gateways services in a timely manner, and meeting their individual access to care goals and service delivery requirements and expectations.
  • Provides monthly tracking and reporting of key performance indicators including new referrals, intake and admissions, client conversion rates into Gateways programs, HEDIS measures, and required health plan reporting.
  • Builds strong business relationships through exceptional customer service to keep Gateways “top of mind” in the highly competitive Los Angeles County behavioral healthcare market.
  • Create compelling content for websites, social media, and brochures marketing Gateways programs and services.
  • Performs other additional tasks as directed.

Community Outreach:

  • Assist field-based program staff with enrollment of clients into Gateways Enhanced Care Management, under new Medi-Cal managed care health plan contracts.
  • Maintain relationships with local community-based organizations, educational institutions, and businesses to support Gateways longstanding history of collaboration and support of local initiatives.
  • Represent Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center at community meetings and public events as assigned.
  • Develop relationships that enhance Gateways reputation and brand as a competitive full service behavioral healthcare organization.

Client Engagement:

  • Support Gateways program client acquisition and retention strategies to maintain program census goals, through high touch client and family engagement.
  • Assist with reputation management (e.g., patient feedback).
  • Coordinate client, family, payer and referral satisfaction surveys, package and present satisfactory scores to our payer partners; provide feedback-driven improvements to the Director.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Understanding of California payers in the behavioral health space i.e. L.A. County Department of Mental Health (public sector) and commercial health plan / Medi-Cal managed care plans (private sector).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and analytics software
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Ability to establish open, respectful, and candid relationships and exhibit a high degree of professional ethics with external community stakeholders and internal staff.
  • Skilled at identifying trends and developments that could result in strategic opportunities for the organization.
  • Event planning and public speaking experience a plus
  • Bilingual language abilities a plus

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATES

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Healthcare Administration, or related field.

 

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Experience working with commercial and/or Managed Care Plans in a behavioral healthcare setting.
  • Computer proficiency (Word, Excel) with the ability and skills to use marketing data, track and report outcomes and generate reports.
  • Some knowledge of health and human services and behavioral healthcare industry standards, laws, and business trends and drivers in California and nationally.

Desired Experience:

  • Preferred 2+ years of experience in behavioral healthcare (or related field) marketing, community outreach.
  • Experience working in a community-based behavioral health organization (mental health, substance use disorders) with some knowledge of treatment and social service needs of mental health and SUD populations, preferred.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
  • Valid California Driver’s license.
  • TB clearance.
  • Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier.
  • Fire and Safety Training*.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI)**

* Note: If indicated certifications/licenses are lacking, they must be obtained within 180 days of hire.

**Training needs to be completed within 30 days from the date of hire on a designated date provided by onboarding.  Staff need to be certified at the commensurate level for their role to perform their job duties (staff will be taken off the schedule if certification is not achieved).
