Front Lobby Receptionist & Security

Summary 

The Front Lobby Receptionist/Security is a key point of contact for visitors and staff, providing a professional and welcoming first impression of Goodwill of Silicon Valley (GWSV). This position combines customer service with security responsibilities to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the facility. The role requires the receptionist to greet all incoming visitors, manage the visitor sign-in process, and route inquiries appropriately. In addition, the receptionist plays a critical role in building security, monitoring access, issuing badges, and assisting with loss prevention activities. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.

Job Responsibilities 

Major Responsibilities:  

• Welcome all visitors in a welcoming and helpful fashion.  Provide a respectful first impression of Goodwill of Silicon Valley. 

Major Duties:  
 

• Represent the Company in a courteous and professional manner 

• Greet all incoming visitors and route them to appropriate GWSV staff 

• Answer general questions from visitors 

• Provide assistance with kiosk sign-in 

• Answer phone calls and transfer them to the appropriate contact 

• Ensure only authorized persons enter the main building 

• Prepare, issue, and maintain visitor badges 

• Activate/deactivate employee badges 

• Monitor incoming and outgoing property 

• Perform emergency responsibilities by following established protocols 

• Assisting the Loss Prevention staff as needed 

• Review video surveillance systems to investigate retail store cash irregularities and assist in Loss Prevention video requests 

• Assist with site security walk throughs 

• Managing occasional mail/package drop-off 

• Provide administrative support as needed 

• Be able to manage confidential communications  

• Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned  

Requirements 

• Proficient in the English language  

• Possess or be able to obtain a BSIS Security Guard Card 

• High School Diploma or GED 

• Basic Computer skills 

Preferred Qualifications/Experience 

• Two years experience working in a security role 

• Bilingual English/Spanish fluency  

• Valid CA. driver's license 

Equipment Used 

• Computer, telephone, copy and FAX machines. Zoom and Microsoft experience 
  preferred 
   

Working Conditions 

• Working in an office environment 

• Working a standard work week with occasional evenings and weekends as needed 

Emotional Effort 

• Moderate: Occasional short deadlines. The work environment is occasionally hectic with occasional high activity. 

Physical Requirements 

This job involves both sedentary work and the capacity to stand for extended periods.  This position may include lifting up to 25 pounds on occasion.
