Location:            The Salvation Army – National Capital Area Command

Position Type:     Regular Full-Time/Hourly

Pay Range: $27.74 – 31.00/hour 

About this opportunity:

This position is responsible for the management of the Area Command's volunteer program and the coordination of special events. The incumbent identifies, recruits, trains, nurtures and oversees all volunteers; works with officers and staff to determine ways to utilize volunteers effectively. Builds relationships with local businesses and civic groups through events, meetings and meeting their corporate social responsibility initiatives, through sponsorships, in kind donations, service projects, and volunteer opportunities.

They establish and maintain updated volunteer orientation information and is responsible for onboarding volunteers and assisting the Corps with volunteer onboarding as requested. The Corporate & Community Engagement Manager coordinates delivery/pickup/distribution of in-kind donations as requested by donors and the Community Relations & Development Director. He/she assists with outreach efforts and attends community events, fairs, external businesses etc. as needed; represents The Salvation Army with professionalism and tact at all events. The Corporate & Community Engagement Manager ensures all in-kind donations are entered in the CRM with the appropriate value of the donation and ensures other administrative compliance requirements are met and reported as required.

Qualifications

What we are looking for in you:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in related field,
  • AND
  • Four years’ experience in coordinating special events and recruiting volunteers for large groups
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid Driver’s License and must meet TSA MVR Requirements.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to recruit individuals to perform special assignments as volunteers. Ability to speak before small and large groups of people. Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for extended periods of time when reading and preparing reports. Ability to apply discretion and independent judgment and exercise confidentiality. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines. Ability to think, concentrate and learn. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. During Christmas or special events work may be performed in a warehouse setting with changes in climate, temperature and discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
