Taylor Engineering is looking for a motivated Entry-Level Biosystems, Civil, Environmental, and/or Water Resources Engineer to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida or Tampa, Florida. If you're passionate about solving real-world water challenges and want to build your expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, and floodplain management — this is your opportunity to dive in. This is an on-site position where you’ll be surrounded by smart, mission-focused professionals doing impactful work every day.
As a Water Resources Engineer, you’ll support FEMA’s nationwide MT-2 Program, helping evaluate and update flood maps that guide national disaster planning and risk reduction. You’ll gain hands-on experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, work alongside senior technical mentors, and develop a strong foundation in watershed management, model review, and spatial analysis — all while contributing to a high-impact national mission.
You’ll work with a collaborative, experienced team of engineers and scientists to:
- Evaluate FEMA Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) requests to determine if changes to flood hazard data are justified.
- Review hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) models for technical soundness.
- Ensure projects align with FEMA and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) standards.
- Support map production, model development, and technical documentation.
- Communicate findings through well-written reports and conversations with FEMA and LOMR requesters.
- Learn industry-standard tools and sharpen your problem-solving and analytical skills.
This is more than just an engineering job — it's an opportunity to grow quickly, work on high-visibility national projects, and be mentored by some of the best in the business. You’ll contribute to solutions that enhance flood resilience, public safety, and infrastructure planning across the country. At Taylor, we offer a flexible work environment, a strong internal community, and meaningful, impactful work from day one.
