Utilizing Practice-Based Coaching (PBC), support teachers’ use of effective teaching practices that lead to positive outcomes for children. Assists teachers with their implementation of practices with supports, including technical assistance, co-teaching, and communities of practice, mentoring, and coaching. Coaching may be provided through group professional development, group meetings, or individualized intensive supports.
1.   Know and function in accordance with all required standards and licensing guidelines including Head Start Performance Standards, Great Start Readiness Program Standards, NAEYC Standards, and State of Michigan Child Daycare Licensing Regulations.Â
2.   Must adhere to CAA’s and Head Start philosophy and goals in order to help families become self-sufficient and parents to become more actively involved in their child’s lives.
3.   Recognize existing strengths of education staff and build positive, trusting, coaching relationships. Adapt successfully to diverse learning styles.
4.   Identify and target needs within the classroom setting for additional resources and supports to promote successful outcomes.
5.   Plan goals and action steps with classroom staff that are receiving PBC.  Typical caseload will range from 10-12 individuals at any given time.
6.   Engage in focused observations for both staff and overall classroom to ensure quality preschool programming.
7.   Reflect on and share feedback about teaching practices with classroom staff and managers.
8.   Support ongoing CLASS observations and develop professional development to support child and classroom outcomes.
9.   Provides classrooms coverage when needed.
10.   Travels to assigned classrooms, in-service trainings, seminars, and other assigned meetings.
