Description

A SYEP Education Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the educational components of a Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), focusing on developing work readiness skills, career exploration, and academic support for participating youth, often in collaboration with schools, employers, and community partners; key duties include curriculum development, participant recruitment, job placement assistance, and monitoring program compliance with relevant guidelines. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Model and uphold all Agency rules.
  2. Work with the DYCD curriculum to create informative and exciting workshops for the SYEP program participants.
  3. Work with the Program Supervisor to oversee the implementation of the curriculum.
  4. Contact guest speakers to enhance the DYCD curriculum.
  5. Assist the program participants with creating resumes.
  6. Assist with the worksite development process as need.
  7. Assist with the SYEP job placement as needed.
  8. Assist with the maintenance of program file as needed.
  9. Enter program related documents to the DYCD YEPS system.
  10. Create and submit program related reports (excel and word documents) as requested.
  11. Work collaboratively and professionally with a varied group of colleagues
  12. Perform other job related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Some College Required.
  • Experience in curriculum development and lesson planning.
  • Facilitation experience a must.
  • Teaching experience a plus.
  • Strong background in youth development 
  • Experience working with students of various ages.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (Outlook, Word, Power Point).
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be able to multitask in a high volume atmosphere

Location: Police Athletic League, Inc. Edward Byrne Center

Salary: $19.00-$20.00 Per Hour

Start Date: 3/31/25 This date is Tentative
