SUMMARY:

The dealership General Manager (GM) is responsible for the profitability of all departments in the dealership. This includes, but is not limited to the following departments: Wholegoods Sales, Service, Parts, Accounting, Administration and Customer Service. The GM must effectively manage all personnel and have a strong knowledge of the agriculture market, an in-depth understanding of the finances, as well as strong customer relations skills. Further responsibilities of the GM include planning, motivating, and managing the dealership team through excellent leadership and solid business practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Creates the annual dealership budget by forecasting gross sales and operating expenses as well as profits of the dealership
  • Meet with the sales staff and department managers to plan and implement objectives for achieving revenue and gross profit goals and objectives
  • Maintain the profitability of the dealership while controlling expenses and maintaining customer satisfaction
  • Responsible for hiring and monitoring the performance of each sales team member, hold timely sales meetings, and ensure sales training is conducted
  • Manage inventory turnover by coordinating the appropriate supply of new and used equipment and ordering/acquiring wholegoods inventory
  • Meet with Chief Operating Officer to review revenue forecasts and profits for the dealership
  • Make recommendations on short and long-range advertising plans, sales promotions, staffing needs, lease promotions and compensation plans
  • Ensure excellent communication and cooperation between all the departments of the dealership
  • Pay close attention to the day-to-day operations of the dealership, recommending and creating improved courses of action where necessary
  • Focus on any customer complaints that the department managers need assistance with and ensure that a high level of customer satisfaction is obtained
  • Audit of all appraisals of trade-in equipment
  • Ensure appropriate sales records are maintained
  • Maintain a working understanding of the federal, state, and local regulations that affect the sales, service and operations of the dealership and maintain compliant
  • Uphold company mission statement and core values
  • Embrace an atmosphere of learning and building employees to reach their highest capacity

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY:

This position manages all personnel of the dealership and is responsible for the leadership guidance within the dealership.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent is required
  • Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Business equivalent preferred
  • Sales or customer-oriented work experience in the agricultural industry preferred
  • Experience equivalent to two years in a dealership sales environment
  • Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain work relationships with co-workers, vendors, and customers
  • Possess strong communication skills
  • Ability to professionally manage difficult customer situations
  • Must be able to travel to customer sites
  • Computer proficiency

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The job will operate in various environments to include but not limited to, the shop, outdoors, on-site with the customer, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This job is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items over 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am 5:00 pm. Early morning, evening, weekend and work on holidays may be required as job duties demand.
