VP OF ADVANCEMENT

The VP of Advancement will design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to provide ongoing support for Hope Haven programs and facilities. This strategy will involve working with businesses, foundations, churches, and individual donors to present the case for support, solicit donations, and steward relationships effectively. The Director of Advancement will be the lead “storyteller” of Hope Haven, seeking creative opportunities to promote our work in the community. The Director of Advancement will also serve as a liaison to the fundraising committee of the Board of Directors, providing training and guidance in their fundraising efforts.

Fundraising

  • Design and implement a comprehensive strategy to grow the individual donor base.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive strategy to build relationships and raise funds from businesses and churches in coordination with the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
  • Leverage donor database system to maintain good records, document gifts (both financial and GIK), and provide donor acknowledgements in a timely manner.
  • Work with VP of Finance to develop agency budget and forecast annual contributions.
  • Provide leadership for any capital campaigns, in conjunction with the President/CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Serve as liaison to the Board of Directors to train and equip them to be knowledgeable ambassadors in the community and effective fundraisers.
  • Provide a written monthly report to the President / CEO.

Marketing

  • Update brochures and other printed information for fundraising and community relations.
  • Publish Hope Haven newsletter 2-3 times yearly, publish Annual Report, create emails and mailings to specific target audiences.
  • Oversee all media for Hope Haven: website, social media, newspaper, radio, tv, etc.
  • Plan and execute fundraising events.

Community Engagement

  • Oversee the Partnership Associate to build effective partnerships with local businesses and churches who can provide volunteer labor and financial support.
  • Represent Hope Haven at social events and community functions, in coordination with the President/CEO and other staff. This includes both fundraising opportunities and community partnerships (Women’s Impact Fund, Share Charlotte, etc.)
  • Seek opportunities to speak to community groups about Hope Haven.

Qualifications

Position Requirements

  • Experience in development, fundraising, and marketing at a similar non-profit agency.
  • Knowledge of corporate and community philanthropy.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; grant-writing experience preferred.
  • Strong public speaker with the ability to make effective presentations to large and small groups.
  • Expertise in digital marketing, social media, print marketing, and photography.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work both independently and as a team player.
  • Strong computer skills; experience with donor databases and Microsoft products.
  • Conduct disciplinary action as needed.
  • Attend all Hope Haven required meetings.
  • Maintain compliance with agency policies, procedures, and standards, upholding organizational values and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
  • This position will often involve evening or weekend work as needed.
  • Valid NC driver’s license.
