JOB SUMMARY:
A Commercial Lines Rater Marketing position involves analyzing commercial insurance risks, preparing submissions to multiple insurance carriers, negotiating coverage terms and pricing, and presenting proposals to clients, all while leveraging market knowledge to secure the best possible coverage options for businesses based on their needs and risk profile; essentially bridging the gap between sales and underwriting by evaluating risks and finding suitable insurance placements within the market.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Insurance Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial insurance lines including property, liability, workers' compensation, and business interruption coverage.
- Underwriting Guidelines: Familiarity with underwriting guidelines and risk selection criteria of various insurance carriers.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex risk scenarios, assess potential exposures, and make informed coverage recommendations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, producers, and underwriters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluate complex commercial insurance risks by gathering information on a client's business operations, assets, and potential liabilities to determine appropriate coverage levels.
- Compile comprehensive submissions to various insurance carriers, including detailed risk information, coverage requests, and supporting documentation.
- Stay updated on market trends, carrier appetite, and pricing strategies to select the most suitable insurance companies for each client's needs.
- Negotiate coverage terms, premiums, and policy conditions with underwriters to secure favorable rates and coverage options for clients.
- Analyze quotes from different carriers, compare options, and present a clear and concise proposal to clients, highlighting key features and benefits.
- Maintain open communication with clients and producers, explaining complex insurance concepts, addressing concerns, and managing expectations throughout the marketing process.
- Coordinate the binding of policies with chosen carriers, ensuring accurate coverage details and timely implementation.
- Maintain accurate records of client information, risk details, carrier responses, and policy details within agency management systems.
- Comply with all office policies, standards, and procedures
- Any other duties as assigned by management

MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS:
- At least three years of Commercial Insurance Experience
- Experience with Agency Management System (Applied EPIC preferred)
- Valid NYS driver’s license
- Ability to travel to and work out of additional locations upon request
- Valid NYS P&C license
