Position Overview:
 Zuppardo’s Family Market, family owned and operated, has been a staple in the community for over 90 years, providing delicious food, great value and exceptional service We are seeking a versatile and enthusiastic Sandwich Maker & Short Order Cook to join our café team. This role involves preparing fresh, made-to-order sandwiches, wraps, and short-order items in a fast-paced environment, ensuring quality, consistency, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation: Prepare sandwiches, wraps, breakfast items, and other short-order menu items based on customer orders and standardized recipes.
  • Customer Service: Greet and engage customers, taking orders accurately and addressing any dietary preferences or special requests.
  • Menu Knowledge: Be familiar with the café’s full menu, including ingredient lists and cooking methods, to assist customers and suggest options.
  • Ingredient Management: Maintain organized and well-stocked prep stations, ensuring freshness and availability of ingredients throughout the shift.
  • Cooking and Assembly: Use grills, fryers, and other cooking equipment to prepare orders efficiently while maintaining portion control and presentation.
  • Sanitation and Safety: Adhere to food safety standards, regularly cleaning and sanitizing workstations, equipment, and utensils.
  • Inventory Support: Assist in monitoring inventory levels and communicating supply needs to ensure all ingredients are available.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other café and kitchen staff to keep service fast and smooth, especially during peak hours.

 

Schedule: Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a sandwich shop, deli, or fast-paced kitchen environment preferred
  • Knowledge of short-order cooking techniques and food safety guidelines
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, handling multiple orders simultaneously
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, lift and reach and perform repetitive motion
