POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Sports Director, support youth sports programs as it relates to clinics, leagues, camps, and tournaments. Create opportunities for participants to learn, grow, and thrive. Create a safe environment for the players and families. Teach basic skills and strategy of multiple sports. Maintain program standards, policies, and procedures as established by the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serves as a positive role model and mentor for youth; teaches positive behavior such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and self-respect.
- Assist in marketing and distribution of program information.
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in the program.
- Assist in YMCA fundraising and other special events.
- Maintain proper attendance and communication with the Supervisor.
- Implement appropriate policies.
- Maintain records related to equipment needs.
- Keep Lead Youth Sports Coach informed of activity plans and situations related to programs.
- Follow organizations policies and procedures regarding protecting youth from abuse; including screening and selection, training and supervision, and responding to allegations. Communicate to all staff and volunteers the organizations commitment to protect youth from abuse.
- Follow mandated reporting requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
All Youth Sport Supervisors are expected to perform the following activities.
- Contribute to team practice plans and assist in facilitating appropriate drills and practices.
- Effectively coach skills related to multiple sports.
- Transport and set up equipment for games and practices.
