Core Responsibilities:
- Performing DOT inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Conducting routine maintenance work to improve vehicle functionality and longevity.
- Completing necessary documentation associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and repair times.
- Communicating needed repairs or tasks to the Fleet Manager.
- Maintain a safe work station.
- Performing other related maintenance work.
- All other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Preferred Experience:
- A Technical Degree in Auto/Truck Maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- 3 years of auto/truck-related experience preferred.
- 3 years of Fleet Truck Maintenance experience preferred.
- Air conditioning Experience preferred.
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be willing to work on gas and diesel engines as needed.
- Must know and understand basic electrical components, including switches, relays, and circuits.
- Must be proficient in vehicle diagnosis and repair.
- Emergency lighting and siren experience is welcome.
- Certificates of accomplishment are deemed valuable.
- Motivated, self-starter, and able to work independently.
- Work cooperatively with other employees.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions in the English language.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Must be able to routinely lift and carry items up to 75 lbs and reach overhead.
- Requires the ability to work on-site and in multiple locations and settings.
- Requires the ability to clearly understand verbal and written communication from others in person and by telephone.
- Requires the ability to climb and work from ladders and other elevated platforms to inspect, assess, and diagnose equipment.
- Must have a valid and current operator's license with a clean record.
Work Schedule:
The Fleet Maintenance Technician’s work schedule is highly dependent on the time of year. Staff will be expected to work as needed, which will require a great deal of flexibility regarding the hours per day and week, as well as the times worked. This is particularly true during the Planting and Harvest seasons, where 7-day weeks are required.
The Farm generally operates 7 days per week. The Fleet Maintenance Technician can reasonably expect to work from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, 5 days each week, though given the scope of this position it is understood that the role of Fleet Maintenance Technician is an on-call position and may be required to work in the evenings or on weekends as needed.
