Seeking Engagement Infant Toddler Art instructor

 

Come work in JCC Denver’s enriching, inclusive, and friendly engagement art space! This is a very fun position working in a busy art studio focused on infants through preschool age programming.

 

All classes will be for infants through preschool ages 6months – 5 years. Looking for someone well versed in process-based art who understands the social emotional needs of children and how to help foster growth and development through art. The majority of these are caregiver/child classes.

 

In general, classes are long-term explorations of an art form giving students an opportunity to both learn and develop skills within multiple areas. Engagement classes run in 8-week, or 6-week increments, or occasional monthly based workshop programs.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Experience teaching art to preschool aged students is required
  • Experience instructing infants through preschool aged children.
  • Candidates with early childhood education degrees or k-12 art and/or candidates with a teaching license or teaching license in progress are strongly preferred.
  • Experience with painting, drawing, mixed media, and a variety of other art mediums.
  • A thorough understanding of teaching preschool aged students, including successful lesson implementation from introduction through closing, scaffolding for mixed ages, etc.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and techniques focused on community building and relationship building.
  • Genuine enjoyment and enthusiasm about working with children.
  • Excellent people skills and enjoyment for being around people.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and with a positive work ethic.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with your colleagues and teammates
  • Additionally, understanding our philosophy and values, understanding child development phases, and maintaining patience, calm, and a positive work ethic is of the utmost importance in our studio.

The successful candidate will: have stamina, be responsible and creative; have a positive attitude and work ethic; be a team player; understand child development stages and the specific needs of children; maintain a high level of professionalism; be successful at identifying and relating to the feelings and perspectives of others; have awareness of and attentiveness to individual needs of children and their caregivers.

 

Logistics:

 3 days a week: 9am-1pm (Sunday, Monday, Wednesday) 12 hours a week teaching, 3 hours a week planning

 

Fall 2025 Session Dates: September 8 – November 21, 2025

Winter 2026 Session Dates: January 12, 2026 - March 22, 2026

Spring 2026 Session Dates: April 12  – May 31, 2026

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

These additional qualifications are preferred and will make candidates more competitive, but these are not required for the effective execution of the job responsibilities:

  • Experience with community engagement, intergenerational engagement, LGBTQIA+ engagement, and a working knowledge of the Jewish Community and its constituents.

This part-time position is not benefits-eligible.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

 While performing duties, the candidate is often required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Candidate will often lift and or/move up to fifty (50) pounds.

 

Working conditions may include:

 

Being in an open (shared) workspace area;

Working outdoors for prolonged periods in sun and heat;

Working with young children/seniors.
