The Mizel Arts & Culture Center (MACC) is looking for a part-time Box Office Assistant to join our team! The Box Office Assistant will help to facilitate operational and administrative activities for MACC programing.   

Responsibilities include box office operations (event set up, ticket sales, phone and email correspondence, and reporting); assist the Assistant Program Director in coordinating volunteer and rental assistant scheduling, and provide administrative assistance for all programs. The Box Office Assistant will assist MACC staff and program directors in support of Denver Jewish Film Festival (DJFF); Wolf Theatre Academy; Neustadt JAAMM, Denver Children’s Theater (DCT); JCC programming, and rental activities.  

Weekend and evening hours are required.  

​​Role and Responsibilities​ 

  • Assist in Box Office Operations, including event set up and reporting. 

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current and future performances, events, classes, and other activities within the building, and direct visitors to these as appropriate. 

  • Assist customers with processing ticket sales/bookings as required; and addressing any specific front of house requirements with their bookings. 

  • Support MACC Staff with events including Wolf Theater Academy, Film Festival, Neustadt JAAMM, JCC programming, and rental activities as needed. 

  • Assist with processing payments and booking for all events including group ticketed events. 

  • Deal with all Box Office transaction data and related paperwork (filing, reporting and archiving). 

  • Familiarize themselves with all facets of the front of house operations, including but not limited to ushering, concessions, ticketing, customer service, and volunteer management.  

  • Other duties as assigned, based on changing needs of MACC. 

  • Assist in coordinating with the JCC Front Desk in regards to upcoming MACC events. 

  • This position could require more hours depending on seasonality.  

  • Facilitate monthly Festo Festo programming (onsite and offsite).  

Qualifications

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of two years of theatre related work experience
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience; affable, outgoing personality
  • Familiarity with arts environment
  • Great multitasker, attention to detail, hard-working and self-motivated
  • Availability to work nights and weekends is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (major in any arts field or arts administration)
  • Box office experience

 

Physical/Mental Requirements (ADA Compliance)

  • Mental requirements include, but are not limited to, the ability to concentrate, take initiative, stay calm in high pressure situations, cope with stress, adapt to and stay alert in a business environment.
  • In order to perform the essential duties of the job, the employee must be able to speak, hear, see and walk more than 2 miles each day.
  • Standing and sitting on the floor may be required.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

 

Benefits Overview

This is a part-time position and is therefore ineligible for benefits.

Additional Notes

This job is part-time, as needed, with more hours assigned during festival time periods. Hours for this job can include the following: (with notice hours can be flexible)

  • Monday – Friday 12:30 – 4:30.
  • Weekend and evening hours are required (onsite and offsite)
